Thanks for the feedback Art could have more detail, that's true. About running and putting obstacles, I feel that it'd go against the atmosphere. What I realize now is that the rooms seems bigger than it is 'cause of the limited vision.

Developer / Creative / Re: Displacing 'fun' from the game designer's lexicon

You don't have to find it enjoyable personally, but it has to try to be enjoyable. Some aspect of the game has to be fun to some people.
Are you saying games have to be enjoyable, or fun? 'Cause those aren't the same thing. Lots of games are enjoyable but not fun. I can enjoy Master of Orion or Civilization, but I don't think anyone will say they have fun with them. I mean enjoying something is like "That was good, I liked it", and fun is like "Haha, that was fun!".

Regenerating health works very well in more realistic games, and is a lot more adequate than medkits. And the bazooka in the face, is only a problem in some games. In CoD, recovering from the bazooka doesn't happen, as it's hard to survive any kind of explosion and flamethrowers are one hit kill, and a headshot is usually a frag. Playing in medium.

Feedback / Playtesting / The Hum

The Hum It's the game I did for the ADVA Single Boss competition, along with my brother Dario, aka Jujyfruits, who isn't in this forum. Also, Ezequiel Rivero, who did most sounds. And the idea was firstly inspired by Hideous Sounds in the Dark, by SharpCarlos for the CPB compo. The idea is to follow the sounds and confront the entity. It's quite hard, so read the instructions. Any feedback is welcome, specially for the art. EDIT: Added a screenshot.

He didn't said best multiplayer console FPS, just FPS, so it's in the same category as Quake, or Doom, for example. And CoD is multiplayer and for console.

La Mulana is like Cave Story but good.
Cave Story certainly did somethings well. The story was well fleshed out, for example. Despite never talking, Quote does have a fairly active role in the story. That was actually a joke, but yes, CS did very well all the plot, characters, etc.. As for La Mulana, I love it's retro feeling, and that the graphics are actually retro, instead of just being pixelated. All the puzzles and the passing help a lot to that feeling. Also everyone complains about CS being hard while it's regular, but La Mulana, that one is hard. It just annoys me a little that everybody thinks of Cave Story as the "defining indie game", when I see La Mulana as the obvious choice.
I think that's mostly a matter of accesibility. CS is a lot more friendly, mostly 'cause it's a bit more linear, easy, and guides the player more.

I'm not sure if this could be considered a bug or not, but in sector 4, I had the exit of the level blocked with one of the moving spiked blocks. I lost some time before accidentally activating it and finding the exit.

Developer / Design / Re: Portal's Ending

Good thing I saw this thread, it made me remember I still had to end Portal. So I just did And the ending is amazing. The song is awesome, but for me the best moment is the confrontation with Glados. It's lines are real good. "Why don't you marry it you love it so much?" "I invited your best friend the Companion Cube, but it won't come, because you killed him. I also Invited your other friends, but they won't come, because you don't have any." "You are not a scientitst, you are not even a full-time employee."

I think Cave Story is quite overrated. And the time it was made doesn't matter for this case. Maybe CS is very important, okay, but that doesn't make it a better game. The context is important for games that make something new, 'cause there is a big difference between being the first to do something and to be the second.
And about being compared to Metroid and SOTN, people usually talk about CS as one of the greatest games ever, so I don't see why it can't be compared to the other best games ever. And it isn't important if those are sommercial or not, like if being commercial and having more money on them meant they are better.

I finally got the shortcut for lvl. 9. It took me less time to get through sector 3, that to get through sector 2. It has been easier than sector 2 for me. Also, I find the parachute very useful in this levels.
You're clearly smoking the hemp the parachute is made out of if you think it is useful in any way. :V When you have to choose between being smashed to death by a yeti, or leaping from a cliff, a parachute is something you'd like to have. The number of risky jumps I've done in sector 3 is enormous, and everytime I had the parachute, it helped. I've just got my first try with web launcher, and it's also quite good. Get the cape. It's like a multiple use parachute.
The cape is great, but doesn't appear often.
