It definitely does work, Kwakkie. And very nicely, I might add.

Are those evil cowboy Slender Men?

I'll get some poses in as soon as I figure how to work Unity's crappy cloth physics.

To have the best indie sideburns.

I thoroughly enjoy your style, Koffee.

Another character:

Check it out: a gunlance.

~EDIT~

Yeah, I must've scanned the paper at a slight angle. Fixed.

I'm strongly considering redoing this character's head from the left one to the right one, but I don't know. My main concern is that the original head looks too similar to Dr. Robotnik/Eggman from the Sonic series.

You could achieve a similar effect with some sort of brow crest instead.

That smile... Crazy

You don't want to eat my soul! It tastes like dark matter and beard.

This is pretty awesome; I found I could pretty easily dispatch the wasps with the strategy that the Capn mentioned.

I find that said wasps get stuck on corners a lot.

Sea salt ice cream is blue, though, SolarLune.

Whaaaat

Good question.

Here's a world-renowned master thief:

And by 'Thief', I mean she steals stuff. And by 'Master', I mean she's almost always successful. And by "World-renowned", I mean as a terrible whirlwind of destruction and property damage. (Her methods involve bashing through everything between her and her loot)

Why's he thinking of Takenouchi? Does he like Cromartie High School too? Did he die from laughter after watching it?

I'd envisioned a style-based sidescrolling beat-em-up involving this guy, BLAZE FULLBRAND:

Fighting against Demon Lord Nobunaga's army of mutant demon ghosts, who had teamed up with an army of robotic space pirate zombies to conquer the universe.

The final battle would consist of BLAZE FULLBRAND piloting a giant robot version of himself fighting Nobunaga as a giant robo-demon atop the space pirate flagship that's on fire as it drifts into a black hole  Epileptic

The gameplay revolved around accumulating MANLY BURNING SPIRIT by just fighting with normal attacks. As you fight, you'd build up your MANLY BURNING SPIRIT, and would be able to use it for special attacks, which would net you more MANLY BURNING SPIRIT, which would enable you to use even more powerful attacks, and so on.

He had his MAGNUMS, which are punches using his revolver gauntlets, and DRIVES which were kicks using his motorcycle boots. There are three varieties of each: BUSTER, BURST, and GATTLING.

BUSTER is a heavy version, BURST is a ranged version, and GATTLING is a really, really fast version.

And then there'd be elemental additions, so you'd have him shouting stuff like BURNING BURST MAGNUM, or RADIANT BUSTER DRIVE.

Thanks, guys. How did Dark Cloud work, exactly?

I'm going to have to redo Gran Hollow, 'cause it's just not crazy enough. Especially when compared to the starting town:

@rabidbaboy - Awesome. Looks like a wandering salesman from a weird, well-liked JRPG like Seiken Densetsu. I like it. Although, why doesn't his beak have a nostril on the left?

If you're referencing another game, then you know not of Disgaea's Prinny?

Thank'eh.

Working on a new area:

Yes, it's another forest. No, they aren't all like that.

Done a bit more work on this.

First off, I've doubled the camera's FOV, which I think makes a huge difference:

Old:

New:

Then, because Ellie's eyes are apparently terribly creepy, I've made new ones:

And then that new character I posted in the 3D thread, Cadenza:

She's the first person you help during the course of the game.

I've also made a few changes to the  gameplay. The camera is now controlled by the mouse, with movement on WASD and attacking done with the mouse buttons. Each character has a string of light and heavy attacks on the left and right buttons, respectively, which can be comboed together as you wish.

Defensive maneuvers are now a bit different as well. Hitting the respective button makes the character go into a defensive stance for a second. If you're in said stance and an enemy attacks, you'll dodge if you're Gil or Van, and Parry if you're Ellie.

So yeah.
