I agree that Wall-E was great, but in my opinion it was slightly tainted by the complete lack of surprises or tension. Almost every Pixar movie I've ever seen has had at the very least a single scene (or a character, or something in the story, etc) that struck me as a pleasant surprise; Wall-E had none. It wasn't necessarily that it was predictable or anything, just very, very familiar. It was still a delight; I mean it was basically a feature length version of Luxo Jr, how can you not love that? But I still felt just slightly that this was...well that it didn't push quite as hard as some of the previous Pixar films did. Echoes of Portal and Idiocracy only reinforced that impression for me. I've left the theater opening weekend for every Pixar film ever (except maybe Toy Story 2, which I didn't see til it hit DVD) with a really distinct feeling of exhilaration, some really raw feeling of WOW. Not just as a reaction to the visual presentation but to the honesty of the story and the...I guess sense of adventure. Wall-E didn't really have quite the same spark for me...even Cars gave me this feeling, and that was basically a comedy.
Anyways, not sure if any of that made sense, but great movie, totally worth seeing in the theater, but...felt just slightly, 1% off to me. To me this makes it one of the worst Pixar films ever made - very much in the same category as Bugs Life for me. This does, of course, mean its still far better than most other movies that will be released this year! But yeah. My two cents.

I think as long as the game plays out fast enough that a certain amount of grinding is quite tolerable. In the original FFT battles could take up to an hour; as a high schooler, this "weren't no thang," but as an adult that is practically obscene. La Pucelle Tactics has a nice system where characters near each other fight as parties, which increases strategy but more importantly increases the amount of damage done during a turn, speeding the battles up quite a bit.
I think Tactics-style games will always have a strong party-management factor, and as long as they do, experience or RPG-esque mechanics will almost always have a place. It feels good to fight through some crazy battles, and it really hurts when a really badass fighter gets permadeathed. The trick I think is just making the fun and the combat fast enough so that grinding isn't grinding, its just fightin more dudes.

Okay, I actually downloaded firefox today and it seems good enough other than that stupid word correction! Ah, you can turn that off. Good.
I think I see the problem with pixel graphics. It's that when you resize them they get all "smudgy"? But still, that feature to resize pictures doesn't even exist in IE so I can't hate them for introducing (to me) a completely new feature and doing it badly.
Maybe I'm missing something.
Well that feature is in FF2, but doesn't smudge them. So for a lot of people its not completely new, but its still done badly. Also for people with oldass computers the new filtered zooms take a LOT more CPU than the older, "uglier" way of zooming, so some folks are having performance problems with it.

@idiotmeat, Jill's good name will forever be associated with her blue top and miniskirt, regardless of how well dressed she was in RE1. I mean who wears club clothes to go fighting zombies...
I only ever picture her in her badass RE1 original outfit actually...maybe i'm just weird?

I am a fan of:
1 - extremely short passwords 2 - knytt/lost winds style "fast" savepoints 3 - goldeneye style mission screens
What do all these things have in common? Unobtrusive, easy, and you aren't completely F'ed in the A if you die.

I'm not sure the problem is so much that boobies in games will destroy teens' image of women, as the rest of the media is quite good at that already. I think its more that we care about this art form, and as both creators and consumers would like to see women who weren't just idiot pinups, because they'd be a lot more interesting to play and interact with.

Princess Zelda was non sexualized but she technically wasn't the lead. The girl from Perfect Dark is another good one
OH SNAP how did I forget Joanna Dark! Her prequel self is retarded, but as a female lead she was pretty badass; likeable for much more than her blurry, lowpoly body anyways.

Nice one kenneth! I think your player blends into the foliage a bit too much, and the top edge of your ground tiles could use a bit more contrast. And for shame, using softbrushes on your background!
(kidding, i know its just a mockup!)

WARNING TO PIXEL ARTISTS:
Firefox 3 will use filtering when you scale images, like with forum scripts or with the ImageZoom plugin. This means no more nice crisp pixels right in your browser!!

No trouble at all, trust me, just a sick habit! But seriously, if you find that sort of stuff helpful at all, you're welcome to join us over at pixelation. Lots of talented folks there who have helped me a lot over the last few years!
