That's actually the easiest of the hard areas. The one where you have to go through without triggering any checkpoints I found to be WAY tougher.

Also, if the music really turns out in force, we can do a little indie music podcast/radio to complement the main show and showcase indie musicians. That's something to consider later, though.

Yeah I think showcasing a couple of songs during the show would be nice but having little music stingers between segments is a good idea too.

I doubt you want a full song between *every* segment as it would mean a lot of music each week and changing the focus of the show.
Yeah, the stringers between segments would have to be 30 seconds at the very most. The music break will be a full song of around 3 minutes to give the listeners a brief interlude from the chattering.

Could I sugget the sort of standard format a lot of gaming podcasts follow:
- News
- What You've Been Playing
- Main Discussion Topic / Interview
- Listener Feedback / Questions

A lot of the mainstream podcasts use this format and while it's not innovative it's certainly functional and breaks the show up into some obvious chunks to focus discussion and help guide the listener through.
This is (sort of) the format we are aiming for, actually, although with a little twist of our own:

- What Are You Playing?
- What Are You Developing? (place to pimp your game, maybe talk about design a little)
- News
- Music break (now that we have music)
- Featured topic/topics
- Reader feedback/questions/interviews/extras

I think this will be a good format for us in the long run, as it lets us hit most of the indie game bases.

As for malec, your editing was impeccable. If you want to add the music yourself, go ahead, otherwise I will add it tomorrow. I'll also try and finish the other podcasts tomorrow so that we can start with a fresh slate.

Hook Champ is my favorite iPhone/iPod game. I've played it more than anything. I WANT MORE IDOLS GRR.

Also I would give it an amazing review for our site if we covered those games.

Excellent. Now what's the holdup for this episode?  Mock Anger
Haven't had a chance to listen to it. Will do so within the next day or two. Been busy in Seattle.

you realise when i wrote my piece i made it because I thought it needed a theme tune, for like every episode?  Embarrassed
Well, at the moment you and Hyper are the only ones that have submitted music, which means yours will probably be the theme for a while. Just don't want to restrict it to one person. I wanna showcase everyone!
3508  Developer / TIGCast / Re: [#006] on: January 04, 2010, 01:44:57 PM
malec2b, if you could send me the mp3 once you are done processing so I can give it a once over, that would be most delectable. Thanks!
3509  Developer / TIGCast / Re: TIGcast Music! on: January 04, 2010, 01:42:03 PM
So how does thing work now? We send you PMs with links and you'll fill your pool of not-yet-revealed tracks or do we just need to post them here?
You can PM or post it here. It's up to you. Links are absolutely necessary, and I'd appreciate it if you specify where you would like your track (beginning, middle, end).

Also, from here on out: All tracks can not be longer than 3 minutes.

Gotcha. FYI, it's not like I haven't been around the TIGS site for a while, but I see your point.  I suppose up 'til now I've not had the urge to join yet another forum.  I'll be sticking around (^_^), post a bit more, then if you guys still want to make use of my music the offer still stands!

We'll use it at some point. I lurked a long time before I started posting. Just involve yourself in the community and discussions and we'll consider you!

Dragonmaw have you thought about getting someone else to edit these episodes? I'm quite interested in the show but doing a weekly podcast seems self-defeating if the episodes then are just left to gather dust until some unspecified point in the future when you'll find time to put them together.

I'm not trying to be mean, I do a podcast myself (and had to edit a 7 person mess of a special episode over Christmas) so am well aware of the work involved but I just think in the best interests of the show if you've not got time to do it perhaps someone else does?
Alec Stamos (malec2b) is doing the post-processing job on the latest episode. If it goes well and he has the time, I might offload the responsibility to him until I'm better suited to edit on a regular basis.

Of course, that will require granting him Moderator status.  Well, hello there!
Yep, if malec2b takes up editing then he should be a mod as well.

well i tihnk the point is this is a tigsource podcast, so featuring music of someone who only has 2 posts seems a bit counter-intuitive
Precisely.

I registered especially for this Smiley  See if you guys like anything from my audio blog's Flash-player (it's on the right side): http://audio.cagames.com.  PM me if any of these suit you/the show and you need a higher quality version, or have a specific request for a change.  Heck, if you've got an idea for a new piece, I'm down for requests in that realm as well.

Thanks for the opportunity!
Before we will consider your music for the podcast, you'll need to post a little more.
3515  Developer / TIGCast / Re: [#006] on: January 02, 2010, 07:18:22 PM
We actually had to postpone because only me and malec showed up. I'm going to try and get this set up for tomorrow at the same time we always do it (3-4 PM)
3516  Developer / TIGCast / Re: TIGcast Music! on: January 02, 2010, 04:13:11 PM
Intro and Outro. In other words, every podcast will have two featured tunes.
3517  Developer / TIGCast / TIGcast Music! on: January 02, 2010, 03:50:44 PM
We're looking for indie musicians that want their music featured on the podcast! This has two benefits:

1.) We don't have to pay royalty fees!
2.) We get to showcase musical talent from the indie gaming scene.

If you want to contribute a song (or multiple songs!), feel free to comment. As more songs are posted, we'll rotate them.
3518  Developer / TIGCast / IMPORTANT: Skype Contacts for Participants on: January 02, 2010, 02:36:33 PM
This here thread is for coordinating the Skype contacts of anybody wanting to be on the show. If you are going to be on the show, I would greatly appreciate if you left your details here.

The short and skinny of it is this: if you have your Skype details here, you will get preferential treatment in terms of coming on to the TIGcast than those that do not. It's as simple as that. I highly encourage anyone that is going to be on the podcast as some point in the future list themselves in this thread.

Godsavant/Shuming David Zhang - godsavant1
