Possessed: the hidden...? edit: got some great input from a friend, added clouds&gradients to the top to give further focus to the center of the page.

I suggest using the large space to the side to put portraits in, and along the bottom you either do scenes or various drawings / sketches / etc. of the character and their abilities in action.
Also, I've never actually read or played a tabletop RPG! I really want to get on that.
Like so? Perhaps doing it like this will keep the reader focusing on the page (turning the illustrations into borders of sorts. (sorry, it seems I'm spamming iterations of the same picture every two posts on this page)

World of Darkness? I gotta try out one of those sometime. They sound so fun!
Oh, forgot to say; fantastic as always. I love the way you organized it.
As far as RPG systems goes, it's pretty nifty. Instead of relying on one roll you add the number of points from different attributes&skills (relevant to the situation) and roll that many (d10) dice. You count the number of successes (I believe a roll of 8-10 in the new edition is a success, 6-10 in the old one) towards your total success rate. Thanks! I'm trying to do the illustrations in 'blocks' placed on the page in advance and have at least 1/4th of each page covered with illustrations to keep things interesting (I don't know about you, but I get intimidated/bored when I see 5-10 pages about game mechanics without illustrations...) Relevant(?)(what it looked like before I drew the tiny illustrations): Should I use more small illustrations to fill out spaces and perhaps have fewer large illustrations? (1-2 big ones/page or 2-4 semi-small ones?) I know there are a lot of really awesome graphic designers browsing this forums; I'd love some insight as to what to think about compositionally.

*image* Today, whilst waiting on horrible normalmaps&occlusionmaps to be baked I've been trying to imitate the feel of roleplaying books (more specifically: white wolf books). Coming from a guy that still rolls a handful of d10s, I'd say I succeeded. If I were making a tabletop role playing game, I'd hire you for art. Thanks man! Just thinking about getting such a job makes me get a big banana grin. The white wolf d10 system really is wonderful compared to almost everything else (though that might be the nostalgia talking ) I checked your site, and if I were making a sweet jazz/noir game I'd hire you for music

going crazy with random brushes from time to time feels really liberating Kinnas, thanks I'm a bit afraid of going as crazy (in a very very good way <- edit:your way of doing things) with colours/contrast & crisp brushes as you though, not yet anyway

I'm not saying it has be an utopia, I'm saying your suggestions are shitty. 'those are fair points' doesn't even begin to describe it. I just shot down your entire argument regarding law enforcement. I think I'll follow shig's example, goodbye thread

@shig - there are also professions known as private detectives, and bounty hunters.
Since we're talking about a government-less society there are quite a few problems: 1: Only the ones wealthy enough to afford putting out bounties or hire private detectives to dole out justice. 2: Criminals could move from town to town, stealing and killing without anyone being able to see a pattern, should the towns be sufficiently far away. 3: Without strict regulations as to what bounty hunters could and could not do (as opposed to a government-funded police force) you just introduce more problems. These are just examples from the top of my head. Also: A standing army is more than just a direct defensive force, it's also a deterrent. OH GOD WHY AM I POSTING IN THIS SHITTY THREAD!?

What did you us for the BG textures?
I used a free brush I got with an issue of imagineFX, it's a fog brush which has a texture built into it. Other than that I used 'hard elliptical 40 3' from jamie jones' brush set, a soft brush (for the godrays) and some particle brushes. Oh, and some chalk brush too. No actual textures in this one, though I probably should've used some rock textures for the walls...
