The perspective seems a little off to me. Maybe the floor could be straighter?
Looks like the lines in the bed canopy to me.

I'm reading The Gospel of Anarchy by Justin Taylor. It's kind of strange reading a book by someone I know because I end up hearing all the narration in his voice.

Chances are if you owned a good game for Sega Master System, it had terrible box art. Some of them were simply a photo of someone's hand holding the cartridge over the grid background.

I can't know if I want their game or not without actually playing it. ... I'm not buying something without trying it first. ... [W]hy would I buy something based on the idea of what it might be like? That's exactly the kind of stupid blind consumerism that I'm avoiding. ... I don't want an idea, I want to know if I want to buy the thing or not.
By this logic, you will never pay for a place to live, clothing or transportation without someone else buying it for you first. You will only eat at restaurants.

Excuse me, but justifiable rape? Lucky she's not dead? This is just from one user in the thread, not including the RL death threats, harrassment, ostracization, not just to her but also her family. (again, I'll say it, apparently)

even so, that's still a solution. racism isn't harmful when it's private. it's only harmful when it's used. i don't care what anyone thinks about any race internally, that's not my business. it's only my business when they actually *apply* those thoughts
so if the experience drove racism internal for her so that she doesn't express it anymore but still feels it, that's a far preferable situation than before, where she expressed it openly
Unless it amplifies it in the way I was talking about earlier (i.e. perceived oppression) and she turns to an under-the-radar militant group that is more accepting of her opinions. I think reasoning with someone is the preferred way to go, because it doesn't have the potential for that kind of backlash, but this is the internet, so I don't expect it.

aside from the death threat part, i do believe that is the solution to racism, yes. after all, after the reaction, she was apologetic. before it, she said racist things. so the reaction worked.
it also serves as an example. if others see what happens to someone when they make videos like this, perhaps they'd think twice before doing it.
It worked in the short-term at least. From what I've heard from racist people, one of their complaints is not being able to say whatever they want to about whoever they want to. This apology may as well be just a superficial one that she feels she was forced into, leading her to be more resentful towards Asians, thinking they are the reason she was made to be embarrassed, threatened, etc.

Remember, the work has already been done. The game exists. You're not buying the product, you're giving money to the developers to support their effort to create more games. When I pirate a game and don't like it, I don't want to support a developer of poor games. The unethical thing here is trying to pass these pathetic excuses for demos as representative of the final product, which they never, ever are. It's like demoing a car with a unicycle. Yes, they are both vehicles. No, they don't provide the same experience.
The "the work has already been done" argument isn't logical. In practically every exchange of goods for money, the work (aside from the sale) has already been done. You are exchanging something they want (money) for something you want (the game (or, more captiously, the right to play the game)). You can't say stealing bread isn't stealing just because the work has already been done. Also, offering demos that are not exactly like the full game are not unethical. You know you're getting something different from the full game. When you demo a car, they usually don't let you drive it on the highway. But given what you do get to do, you can get an idea of what it might be like on the highway.

Legal: Because they're (usually) illegal.
Capitalist: Because it upsets the market.
Anarchist: They're not; property is theft.
Pragmatist: They're okay as long as you pay for the ones you enjoy. By purchasing the product, you are directly or indirectly contributing to the welfare of the creators of the game, leading to more titles by someone who is likely to create titles you enjoy.
