Hey I remember playing this online in 97! The sound effects bring back memories even No one ever plays though, perhaps that full name requirement on sign up is a big turnaway for potential players. and the cannon sound effect reminds me of the pirate ship in that one 1997 directplay test game I forgot the name of... but it involved a red car that transforms into one!

If you were to go back when you were in the 8-16 year old age range what would you have designed if you had capable game creation tools? I'd make a pink blood splattering platformer game with misspelled swears, with FF7 boss music playing in the background and homer noises

I prefer .MOD best, though no one really tracks in those anymore unless it's some chip crap or amiga-style stuffs. MOD can handle better than that And piano rolls are stupid. I used to make music by hte piano rolls, but now I prefer the OMG SUPAR HARD SCANTRON method now as I prefer the precision of what I do against my notes.

In the 90s I used to draw really quick in Klik & Play. The flow in that I got used to better than TGF or even MMF (they somehow made the fun of sprite drawing worse)

That one's called Inner Space.
It had an amusingly false 'we invented the screensaver and this is our bullshit story Berkeley stole our flying toasters etc' around it.

Using the colour grabber thing (to get an existing colour in the image) should be a case of holding down a key on the keyboard and left/right clicking, rather than having to shortcut to it as a seperate tool then go back to your original tool. Also the colour selector (for new colours) should be similar.
mtpaint can do that

I had this dream in 1995 once, took place in 640x480x8 flatshaded (no goraud) 3d graphics, no textures
a big edged money for nothing-ish caricature of mr. spocks face was one memory from it, with mouth moving at 4 fps (assuming my dream was on a slow 486 computer)
and then a vision of a polygony mecha of some sort, jetpacking out one tall building's window onto a roof. This almost seems like deja vu when I played Metal Fatigue 5 years later, but heh
There was a digital .MOD soundtrack
That's all I remember of it. It's not an actual game, but it's a random one I remember from a dream ages back.
