I got to the last dungeon on my second playthrough, but only because I got a lucky with my power ups.
You really do get a lot better at the game as you keep playing, while it might feel like luck at first eventually you just get good at blowing through the first 2 dungeons regardless of which powerups you have. The third and fourth ones are still a bit tricky if you got really unlucky.

I fucking hate it when projectiles work like this. When running forward doesn't make your bullets fly faster than they would if you were standing still, so doing anything other than backpeddling means you're firing these weirdly impotent shots. Oh, but you don't want to backpeddle because you can fire infinitely faster if you are close to an enemy.
Neither of these things are true about the game, bullet speed is based on your speed (which is how you angle shots) and rate isn't based on how close you are.

Trying to code a way to basically do "scripting" in c++. I have it now so you can write scripts (in c++) and instantiate them by string, might eventually try to get it into a DLL so they can be reloaded at runtime.
Did you consider ChaiScript? It looks a lot like something you needed. I don't want a scripting language that looks like c++, I want actual c++ so I don't have to bind in all my utilities and whatnot. I have that much now after like... 4 hours of work. I can write the script all in one place (dont have to split between .h and .cpp or go add them to some initialization list), instantiate scripts with a string, and tell them to run. That's all I needed, so why bother with anything more complicated. my test code SCRIPT_CLASS(Penis) void run(){ std::cout << "lolpenis" << std::endl; } END_SCRIPT(Penis)
int main(){ Script* penisscript = instantiateScript("Penis"); penisscript->run(); }
outputs "lolpenis"

Releasing a game and "hoping" for it to be a hit rarely happens, you have to take initiative and promote yourself and your game. Go to GDC and such. Email press and 'high profile' indies and anyone else who you think could help you out.

I think AP caster is actually the easiest class to play, and true tank is the hardest. I can do well at any AP caster, but when it comes to tanks or AD champs, I have to play them a while to get it together.
ya, this, and the non-mana AP casters are even easier than that

tank isn't easy to play, its easy to not feed as a tank, but its harder to be an asset to your team if you're new. Knowing when and how to initiate and having judgement and stuff, different skillset than mashing buttons imo. I like playing tanks sometimes though, basically automatically makes you the team leader if you have a not-incompetent team since you decide when fights happens and such.

I don't know, I don't feel like punching people when I play Tekken and I don't feel like inhaling enemies while playing Kirby. My point is, I don't think games can CAUSE violence, but maybe trigger it if the player is a violent person in the first place. Which, as has been mentioned, is not something exclusive to games. Also, Glaiel-Gamer caught my post before I had edited it, so I guess I'll restate a point I made there: I think widespread access to a simulation of a thing will actually decrease the occurrence of that thing in reality.
Ya, I do agree with this. I said games have the ability / potential to influence, not that EVERY game can. IIRC the army uses special simulations to desensitize soldiers to killing before putting them into combat. Flight simulations and educational games and stuff, all designed to teach, and as a direct consequence of being able to teach positive messages, they CAN also be used to teach negative messages. I didn't say anything about mario or kirby or mortal combat or halo there. Just that saying that they [games as a medium] don't have the power to do so is wrong.

(for instance, it sees nuclear power as a good thing and a way to make the environment cleaner, unlike most environmentalists who fear-monger it).
do they really fear monger it that much? I pro-environment and I'm for nuclear power, i thought it was something most people support and was a fairly non partisan issue.

quadruple lol at the host saying how these might be better than teaching children to play "wargames" (apparently Jack Thompson's shadow still hangs over us and people still haven't realized that real living people don't exist inside your TV set, and that virtual blood can't ruin your house's carpet).
This is actually a fair point IMO. A lot of gamers and game developers tend to flock to the other extreme of "games don't cause violent children" when someone brings up a view of "games make kids violent". You know, if you say games can't make violent children, you're heavily understating the power of games as a medium. Games have the potential to influence people in more powerful ways than movies or music or books, because if you choose to do something in a game, you can feel and see the consequence of it arise naturally as a result. I thought the mcdonalds videogame reference in this video ( http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/292911) does a great job of that. You're given the task of running a company, the option to do good or evil is there, and you eventually learn for yourself through experimentation that the only way to make the company survive is to "be evil". If games can teach someone a positive message (be environmentally friendly!), they can teach someone a negative message (like violence solves problems) too; to say otherwise you're denying the power of games as a medium. I don't think children should be playing resident evil, but I don't think it's the government's responsibility to control that.

also, they really should just remove flash already.
I like flash as an initiation spell, they should just like add a 3 second out of combat timer to it or something
