Dubmood, Goto80, Zabutom, etc.

I finished this demo, and it is awesome. I really look forward to the finished version.

More save points wouldn't go amiss though. I noticed some would only trigger on like the third time I reached an area.

A book called The Video Game Theory Reader 2 has a meaty chapter entirely on La-Mulana, which also briefly refers to Cave Story, the games of Cactus, a quote from Phil Fish on pixels and a few more indie games.

You can read a preview of this chapter (and all the others) on Google Books.

I'm wondering if anyone here already knew of this book? It occurs to me now that there are people who frequent here who may be unaware that their writings and games have been cited in a published academic text.

I'd also recommend some 'new games journalism' articles. Action Button is good... in fact it's cited a bunch of times in that La-Mulana piece. The Gamer's Quarter is also good, you should probably download every issue of that and read everything within.

In execution, I'd say that a number of different styles of FAQ would be written (for easy to make games, infuriating to make games, vague FAQs, detailed ones) giving a range for participants to choose from in the second part.

Nice name! I like the look of that rotating starfield. Hope to see more info soon. Smiley

it wont be ready soon, probably never.

Hempuli said this fairly recently. I'm fairly sure he's still working on it, but draw your own conclusions.

I feel like I might have time to do a tileset in the coming weeks. Are there any from your list that still haven't been made?

EDIT: I just noticed that the title of this game has strong icebergvania connotations. Hempuli, you'd better make it happen!

Can anyone follow up this lead? I think it's all we have.

Hunchback monster guy is beyond awesome. Keep it up!

Cave Story.

Can't agree with it. The secret boss was one of the most epic boss battles I've played in my whole life. The tension and everything else built by the extra stage was flawless.

Unless you were talking about the normal ending final boss.

Yeah, I meant the normal ending one.  I'm not pro enough to get secret endings.

I really like the normal ending final boss...  Sad

I've bumped this thread to announce the release of a Halloween-themed Duck Fight game: Super Spooky Haunted House Duck Fight. This one has completely different gameplay... for the most part. Wink It's not just the original with a new coat of paint.

Seconding BreakQuest. I bought the full version, but I'd say that even the demo alone is one of the best Breakout clones you'll ever play.

Get it here.

I don't think Duck Fight is on your list...

Got a debit card today. Went a little crazy, buying Lunnye Devitsy and pledging to Saturated Dreamers and Resonance on Kickstarter. Plan to go crazier.

Jumping is pretty inaccurate sometimes, horizontal movement seems to work differently when in the air as opposed to when walking. Perhaps that could be fine-tuned a little? To explain what I mean a little better, I would have difficulty jumping to either the left or the right in the diagram below:

Also, I would like to be able to sell some of those secret items...

I'd love to see this get as many little updates as Spelunky has.

I don't think either are too obscure! Alex is pretty much a mascot of Free Lunch Design, and they've been mentioned several times in posts on the TIGSource main site.

As for Iwanaga... well... Iwanaga is just awesome.

Runman should definitely appear, at least as a TIGboxer.
