There are various tools out there (I forget the name of the one I used) that can dump FFT data into binary files for you from an audio file. I used this method to make an audio reactive game and it worked really well not to have to mess with FFT stuff yourself.

I lead a fairly large open source project called Polycode. Sometimes it's a real pain in the ass, sometimes it's really gratifying, but it's always time consuming. At this point, it's basically my fulltime job and it hasn't even been officially released yet! Smiley

I'm mostly using this as a real life scenario for the 2d editor. Mostly I've just been working on Polycode and then spending a little bit on this now and then to see how the workflow feels. It's getting to a point where I'm starting to work on it more and more though.
