Ok, this I actually think I know how to solve. Do you have an ATI card by any chance? (the both of you)

Is adding a final boss so that the game has an ending instead of just crashing considered a bugfix? Smiley

Substance, not Construct Smiley

May I ask, what is this SUBSTANCE you speak of? I'd really like to check it out since Bitworld is made of love.

It's a Unity-like engine/app I am working on. I will release it in the coming months as right now it has a lot of issues.

Tried windows version.

First good stuff:
* Very pretty! Very inviting and inspiring!
* Very responsive controls and good character pacing.
* Extremely appealing concept and good implementation of it!

Now for criticism:
* There's no volume control or mute button that I could find. Volume was deafening on my USB-to-stereo connection, which disables the system volume control.
* When I died the game over music was superimposed on the regular BG music. It made for a quite ghastly cacophony. * Graphics glitches galore: the overworld was like the picture above. When I descended some of the overworld building followed and moved with me, intersecting dungeon graphics.
* Fullscreen mode would be greatly appreciated.
* Somewhat difficult control set-up where it is easy to hit the wrong button (I played warrior)

Thanks for the crits, Mikademus, good to see most of the criticism is tech-related Wink

I'll add audio and video options in the next update.

The graphics and music glitches are really weird. I have not seen anything like that on any of the computers I've tried it. It's really weird. Do you mind saying what kind of video card you have?

Actually, Christoffer, if you read this, can you post yours as well?

Does ventrilo have a stalker mode or do you have to have a mic?

The levels are randomly generated, but it goes down to about 15 and then it will probably crash Smiley

I'm working on making a full set of levels and endgame boss.

THe crash I am aware of, it's an issue with my player.

I'm glad you guys like the game. I am definitely going to polish it up for the next couple of weeks.

I'll look into the banding problem.

Added a windows build, see if it works for you guys!

Also fixed a bunch of bugs and balance problems, but a lot of problems still exist, so dont freak out if it crashes or things are weird

Tri Repetae is their best album still I think.
Never heard it. Sad My love of them is entirely Confield-based. That album is in my top ten for sure.

Also, thanks guys. Bood_War, there's a new EP if you didn't know.

You should really check it out. Along with Amber, Chiastic Slide and the Garbage EP.

EDIT: Jabberwock, your music is great.

Yeah, I'm super excited for this as well, even though I didn't like Quaristice as much as their older stuff.

I use ScreenFlick and I'm super happy with it.

Sorry, guys, have been completely fucked with time the past two days. I will post a windows build tomorrow, I promise.

I made this awhile ago with Adam Atomic on the sprites:

I should work on it some more some day.

Works on vanilla-Leopard (10.5.Cool.  Cute animation -- I like how you managed to get a lot of personality in just by overlaying a few of the sprites on top of each other, and displaying slashing-lines during the attack.

I died pretty quickly, too, but it sounds like you're working on the balance issues.  Very impressive, hope you release Construct soon...  Looking forward to playing around with it.

Ran just juicy for me in 10.6.2. Get with the times, old folk! Wink

This game is really really hard for me though. I always get creamed super quick. Alas, I suppose I was not meant for bitquesting.

Haha, don't worry, it's not you. The game is incredibly unbalanced right now. I'm making tweaks to it for tonight's build.
357  Community / Assemblee: Part 2 / Re: Bitworld [Finished (OSX)] on: January 11, 2010, 04:22:11 PM
No, it's an OS version issue. I think it's cause I'm using Leopard-specific OpenAL. I'll have to check.

Yeah, I should have a windows build tonight. I added a bunch of new stuff to my engine, so my one-click export to windows didn't quite work anymore Smiley

Can you tell me the error you get on Tiger? Crash report if you can get that?
