I've read some of this with interest and wish you the best of luck. I'm a little skeptical as to whether it will work (just from seeing how closed-minded some of the folk from the retro-gaming community in general are about even giving indie games a chance and general players just not 'getting' where indie games are coming from) but I could be way off the mark and I sure hope it does. You seem to have a pretty awesome support network, so I think you've given it the best chance.
Looking forward to seeing the kickstarter page.

I've always loved exploration games. I'm not fussed as to whether I explore everything or not but I do enjoy knowing that there is a large world to explore, the choices involved and not knowing what might be around the next corner. I do pause at intersections but it doesn't make me enjoy the experience any less.

I've always used Slumlord or Moshboy but I have no real problem letting people know my name. If I e-mail anyone for any reason I sign off with my first name but I've never really had a reason to reveal my full name anyways.

Could very easily end up being 'just another fps', although I hope it manages to capture the essence of the original.
And yes, a Shadow Warrior sequel would be awesome, as would a Rise of the Triad sequel.

yeah, there are a few compo games that feel like 'real games' occasionally, like chevyray's beacon for the ludum dare, or garden gnome carnage for the yoyo games winter competition.
but i think he meant that most compo games and short gimmick games in general usually aren't interesting to anybody but game developers, which is mostly true.
I was disagreeing with the part about ignoring them altogether. I do agree that many are short and gimmicky to an extent.

I think you could ignore compo and jam games: - they're generally already featured in other frontpage aticles about the compo -they're annoying and most of the time it's just a lot of unfinished games trying to be smart with a gimmick -Indie devs who work hard on their game are generally ignored in favor or said novelties .
Can't say I agree with that. Sometimes jams and compos are mentioned, although more on IndieGames then here and there are always a fair number of games that aren't especially polished but there's usually a rough gem or two per compo that's worth trying out.

I always really loved Monkey. The fighting and flying on the cloud stuff always appealed to me, as did the other characters, Pigsy and Sandy.
When I was even younger then that, Astro Boy.

Very charming as per usual with the Grow series. Always love all the little details thrown in there and the way things interact with each other to produce different results.

Page 6. Meh. I wouldn't even mind a list of popular developers or popular games it's just disheartening I think for a developer who is making games to look at the list (supposedly of all developers) and be like oh, I guess I don't count as an indie developer because I'm not on the list.
The link in my sig leads to a list of indie devs that lend to my own tastes. In its defense it does actually contain up-and-coming and generally ignored devs as well as popular ones and it'll probably never be complete but at the end of the day I can't justify adding just anyone and a lot of people seem get use out of it (100 people each week or so).

Player / Games / Re: How do you introduce people to indie games?

I recommend indie games to people via comments or e-mail on occasion but usually to people that are devs and don't have time to play many games anyways or people that have already tried said games with my knowledge.
I used to recommend stuff to Tim W all the time over msn way back when, if I thought he might not have posted about it. 9 times out of 10 I was unsuccessful ofcourse.

I saw it today and enjoyed it a lot. Best movie I've seen in a while and it beckons multiple viewings. It's good to see big budget movies don't have to be mindless crap all the time.
I wouldn't say it's Nolan's best film but it's not far off.
