Promises are the best key. Markus "Notch" Persson allowed people full ownership of future versions and releases of Minecraft if they preordered it before the beta release for only €10 (~US$13.65)
If you allow people to know what you're doing and stick with it, they might be interested in a purchase.

http://fontstruct.com/I don't know if you knew about this, but this is an amazing place to make bitmap fonts into .ttf files. IT'S FREE. :3 I was wondering when they were going to make it a single domain instead of the "fontshop" part.

I'd post the picture of some comic with some guy who didn't want his iTunes card and getting made fun of because he actually buys music, but I can't find it.

file->save and compact
in flash that command has saved me a headache a few times when its acting retarded
QFT. They IDE programming team haven't got their head around "undo". Save and Compact flushes the undo buffer, saving you from their shoddy programming. CS4 also tends to corrupt FLAs if you import assets from other versions of the IDE. This happens often in my office because all the artists work in Flash 8. It's more stable and they've all condemned the fancy new features as useless (they're all pixel artists). My assets are laid out in an incredibly tidy manner, yet CS4 seems dead set against the word, "ambition". Regardless, I've been trying with smaller attempts (just the cursor project) and even tutorial *.FLA files don't work when in *.SWF form. I'm giving up on making an online demo of a game, as I won't have Flash anywhere else but school unless I switch to Flex.

I have always been a sucker for cell shading. (windwaker) I am a sucker for it too, but how can GameCube emulation be near-perfect and N64 emulation is horrid, graphically? You know, after seeing the Windows title bar.

Mouse.hide(); cur.startDrag(true); Why does this not work in Flash CS4? I have a movie clip with the instance name of cur and everything! protip: trace(cur); There's always the chance you're trying to manipulate an object that's not in the same scope as the code. Just had to add a trace at the end (with a message that it works) and BANG! it worked. AS3 just wants to mess with my head. Thank you very much. It works until it's saved as an *.FLA file. Any reason why?

If your program is using directx at all the chances I'll get to play it are already pretty low
This. Oh, and I don't think my on-board card even supports a single shader, so that excludes me. Then again, my machine is a decade out of date.

The player takes the role of a college professor (who is a duck) and has to film a documentary down in the bayous of Louisiana on an awkwardly-placed Aztec temple. When I mean awkwardly-placed, I mean, "What the eff is a pyramid doing down here?"
I plan on making a point-'n-click adventure eventually. If so, this will be the plot.
