Haha the coincidental times prove absolutely nothing so it's funny. :D Also: It differs from country to country, but end-of-June is pretty standard for high-school exams in Canada and the USA. Well, not too sure about the USA, but I'm pretty sure it's sort of aligned in Canada to be around the same time, due to summer holidays and stuff. Which is all bullshit anyways. But I can go into long explanations for why I feel I should be locked in school for longer periods another day. Also: There are a few people here who are. Plus I heard from my brother that one of his friends is going through exams as well. It's just a general exam-y time for some people. And I'd like to finalize by saying I never assumed anyone here is under 60. I think you're actually all crotchety old men who enjoy tinkering with toys too much, and are just pretending to be younger, brilliant-minded people. I HAVE SEEN THROUGH YOUR PLOY AND PLOT DEVICE. (In all seriousness I know I'm in the minority but I just wanted to fit in and be cool and post in this thread. LOVE ME!!!! ) I'm tired.

If his purpose was to make a political statement and some people got offended alongside, that would only make it more right in the sense that the casualties were on the side of an attempt at a greater good. Actually, sigvatr's intention doesn't necessarily mean a lot if you want to find a deeper (more artistic) merit in the game. I think people teaching things like analyzing art and literature often openly admit that the ideas and symbols they find in the works of others are often unintentional, and more of a product produced by the analyst than the author. However they don't feel that that is something that really diminishes the value of the work that's being analyzed. Besides, who's to say that sigvatr's not just saying whatever he feels like saying anyway? He's been intentionally rubbing people the wrong way for a while, so even if he's sincere (which I actually think he is), there's no real way of telling. Yeah but I think most of the art world is fully of bullshit anyways simply BECAUSE they ignore what the author was actually saying. Take Tolkein's work, for example. Some of the full-bound copies of Lord of the Rings (including two my dad owns) include a foreward by him proclaiming that there is no allegory or references to christianity or World War I in it. Does that stop people from saying it does? No. Are they wrong? Yes. One ought to be able to hold in one's head simultaneously the two facts that Dalí is a good draughtsman and a disgusting human being. The one does not invalidate or, in a sense, affect the other. I can't say I know much about Salvador Dalí. I get the idea here, and to clarify I would like to say that I think Muslim Massacre has no deeper meanings because Sigvatr said it didn't. Although... ...huh. You know, this entire topic has been rather interesting... there's a lot of interesting things to learn and... ...wait... ...oh god... I think Paul was onto something here.

And Derek just sorta became this overwatching god figure. Often he is silent, occasionally gracing the boards with his presence, like a shining symbol of hope in a sea of despair. Handing out justice, he returns to his throne upon the tallest mountains, watching and waiting. But hold! For there comes two new beings of high power! Descending from the sky yet not the heavens comes the elder being Paul, valiently trying to show those poor mortals how their knowledge is wrong, and yet how they are so right. We listen in awe yet envy with the deepest hatred, knowing that the line between love and hate is thin. And yet the angels cry, for the earth swells up and cracks, a great beast being released from within! He looks upon the two ascended ones, Derek and Paul, then looks at the mortals around him. He spits his loving hatred upon us, points to the two and says with a booming voice... "let's go." Has it? Coulda fooled me. Aaaaanywayyy...back on topic? Damn you Craig you ruined it.

Yeah, I know. That's not my usual response to uncalled-for anger. :D
Speaking of which, that mock-anger doesn't look very "mock"-like. It looks more like "raging" angry while the other looks more like "boiling" angry.

Look, if Paul wants to start an argument about why psychology does or doesn't work, I'm fine with that. Besides, the second I pointed out the fallacy of his argument it would've been fated to turn out that way (or not, I dunno if he will start the debate or not). And it's pretty uncalled-for to get angry at me. Seriously, chill out. Have a tea.

Hi people. Just a little character art I drew last night and painted today. To briefly quote my dA page for it: "I guess he's a wizard of sorts, perhaps a necromancer, who has heavily manipulated the bones of his own body."

I don't see how psychology can be bullshit seeing as how my therapist and I have managed to work out a few of the kinks in my mind. Unless that was merely magical coincidence. Like, really really really really unlikely coincidence.

@Paul Eres: I just wanted to pop in and say that your arguments read akin to "sticks and stone break bones but words can never hurt anyone at all". It's a pretty flawed argument, because Sigvatr has already admitted that he was trying to offend people, and that was his only purpose. If his purpose was to make a political statement and some people got offended alongside, that would only make it more right in the sense that the casualties were on the side of an attempt at a greater good.
Sigvatr has said though that he was just being a dick, meaning that he was trying to offend people for the sake of... I dunno, "the lulz" or whatever. Obviously people were offended, and if one single person is somehow psychologically affected by this in the slightest (as they obviously were, hence the death threats) then he has caused harm. Therefor your statement does not apply.
tl;dr version: Paul your argument only holds up if psychology is bullshit.

Awesome, great ideas for my new game.
Why are people still replying to this thread? All you'll get from a kid are answers like this. At his age you're all talking to a brick wall. As well thought out and insightful what you have to say might be, he just ain't listening and won't learn. I just like having a chance to talk. Note that the most important thing I actually did in this thread was call the guy a dick and summon Super Joe.

-snip-
You raise cute little creatures, complete from feeding them to teaching them skills. This process makes you quite attached to them.
Then you send them off to blow up your enemies cute little creatures to pieces, in an RTS environment.
-snip-
Sorta like Neopets if the battledome wasn't crap. Except they can die and you lose them forever. Tough? Ah, yeah, I forgot about the part that Neopets don't die... Yeah, that would be really tough, and teach a good lesson: When people you care for die, you don't get them back.

Comment on RPS: You know, I always thought the title of the original game was supposed to indicate that all the mayhem this dude was creating was because he was pursuing a Just Cause (obviously I never actually played it), but now I’m starting to think it’s more like, “Hey why are you blowing up an entire island?” “/shrug Just ’cause” :D This looks like insane fun, but I'm rather sure the result is still going to be repetitive. All the moves look great, but they don't look like they will remain very fun after you've tried out all possibilities and used them several times. But, I hope there will be a demo with which you can have some fun. I liked the Just Cause 1 demo a lot, and when I was finished I had enough. But what I had was good, and I guess it will be similar with Just Cause 2 I think one could get maybe 3-4 hours gameplay out of it, but any longer than that and it would be like watching the same action movie multiple times in a row.

Hey I thought of a game that would be both male and female.
You raise cute little creatures, complete from feeding them to teaching them skills. This process makes you quite attached to them.
Then you send them off to blow up your enemies cute little creatures to pieces, in an RTS environment.
Seriously now. I think caretaking is too specific to be its own category. I think a better association would be female = creativity, exploration, anything that doesn't have to do with survival and reflexes.
Male on the other hand would be problem/puzzle solving, reflexes, survival, all the opposite in general.
Sorta like Neopets if the battledome wasn't crap.
