To get more attention and thus more money I suppose.

I wish people would post more about who they are or give links to past projects they've completed. Sad If I don't know who people are why should I give them money? I don't know if they've finished a game before, so can I trust them to finish one that's up for funding? A video is all well and good, but it doesn't show me that you can make games.

Yep, exactly. This site got me thinking about how I would try to raise funds for my project with this, and I will certainly try to show people my past games, put up a video of myself and other devs talking and release a new screenshot or video once in a while to show the progress.

WOW a video of ONE ACTION FPS MAINSTREAM GAME that was marketed as a TRASHY GAME this whole fucking past YEAR. IS THAT THE STATE OF THE INDSUTRY THES DAYS HURHRUUHR GLAD I HAVE MY SHIT WIIWARE CAVE STORYS AND ICOS, THE ONLY MAINSTREAM GAME YOU'RE ALLOWED TO LIKE IN THIS FORUM BY THE WAY

Oh boy, we got ourselves a new little troll Well, hello there!

Bulletstorm looks nice, but I'm lagging behind with FPS games these days anyway (the last one I touched was Farcry).

he's not actually banned, everyone. it's just a special title... you can tell cuz of the exclamation point on the end.

It suddenly became less and more funny at the same time.
1365  Player / Games / Re: What games are "Must Buys" this 2011? on: January 25, 2011, 09:32:17 AM
that probably depends on how rich one is: i've a lot of time but very little money. others might have more money but less time.

Yeah, if I had more time then I would most likely take money into consideration too, but as it is Diablo III will be the first game I will buy in a year or two (not counting humble bundle #1 and #2) so I don't care much for the price.

If it's not awesome enough to buy it on the day of the release then it's not awesome enough for me to spend time on it frankly. I don't have much time for playing games, especially big commercial ones that require more commitment.

Nothing really 'got me into' indie gaming. I was playing some Liero and then Soldat during the end of the '90s/beginning of '00s.
But Gusanos is definitely what got me into game making, it's modding capabilities made it brutally simple to develop my own modifications and soon I was hooked up and looking into learning Python+Pygame.

The Matrix was a great movie.

Matrix was a fun movie, if you strip it off the existential mumbo-jumbo and watch it as a pure action movie.
It's the second time someone says it on this forum. I start to ponder whether we've seen the same movie... I don't remember any existential bullshit from the original film, only the sequels had some determinism/free will/causality crap.

Shame there were no sequels.
I don't think they were THAT bad. Sure they were much worse, but still decent action movies.

On the topic of fucked up games, I found this little gem while watching videos of Demonophobia:

What the fuuuuck, Japan.

Hey, this game looks exactly like 'gay hunter' (or something like that) except you're a lady and the rape animation shows much more.

Sorry, it's too dark. I can't see what I am doing. Maybe my eyes are old, but still.

Is your monitor calibrated properly? You could try some sites dedicated to monitor calibration.

I found two warps, but when the second one transports me to a black and white scene, I don't know how to come back.
I had a very hard time getting used to the controls, particularly to the fact that you have more control in the air than on the ground, even though the damping seems the same.
Other than that, great game, I like the atmosphere a lot Smiley

[edit] Also, the graphics become blurry when I resize the window using F2.

I was shocked with how 'computer stuff' was handled in Tron: Legacy. Never would have expected to see actual Unix commands in a Hollywood action movie about killing stuff in virtual reality, even if some of them were misused.
But the movie itself was pretty mediocre.

LostMagic? I suck at TV shows tough so just guessing.
1374  Player / General / Re: Controversial/unpopular opinions on media on: January 18, 2011, 10:57:33 AM
I think some movies just shouldn't be made with a Hollywood budget (another controversial opinion right there).
 Wink

So true, Naked Lunch anyone? Although I mostly like B-movies for their ridiculousness, 'Zombie Rival - The Super Ninja Master' is one of the best examples.
1375  Community / Versus / Re: Versus Competition: Rules on: January 18, 2011, 07:12:14 AM
The start and end dates couldn't have been worse for me Sad A shame because, although I never participated in a compo and never felt like it, this one sound like a great opportunity to do a very simple and fast game.

Never heard the entire discography, but Discipline beats the crap out of Red.

The second video looks much better. I think you should make this the default speed.

I'm looking forward to Duke Nukem Forever, not because I actually want to play it, but because I want to see it finally get released after all these years.

It's a shame it's actually getting done. I wish I could tell my grandchildren, who will be still waiting for DNF, that I remember when they first announced it 65 years ago.

Anybody knows a good server? I want to check the new updates, but the servers I used to go died.

Oh no, I must not read this thread further. If I ever get an IP of a good server I will be gone forever. I'm trying not to play (even single) until the end of my exam session.

I've overcome some prejudices and finally tried out the common graphical mods and the most popular high resolution texture pack (Specifically, "Misa 64x64 Realistic" texture pack, MrMMods (BetterLight/Grass), Wild Grass and then Optimine for supposedly better performance). I've got to say, I find it prettier than I expected Smiley

I LOVE MrMMods, from what I can see on those screens I'll also give this 'wild grass' a spin. But high resolution packs don't work well for Minecraft in my opinion. I find The Quandary to be the nicest texture pack. Much better than the original but still has the same feel.
