Been playing a bunch of Borderlands 2 with a friend recently.

It's such an improvement over the first game. More variety in environments, weapons, missions, enemies, etc. Sadly it's still a game that pretty much has to be played with a friend or two to enjoy it, but it's completely worth it if you have some.

Spent about 10 hours yesterday trying to get my SSD working. I went from an AMD cpu to an Intel cpu, so I had to change the motherboard. For whatever reason the Windows installation decided it wouldn't boot up. Luckily I had backed up everything on the SSD beforehand, so I thought I'd just reinstall Windows completely.

It ended up being nearly 10 hours of fiddling with BIOS settings and reinstalling Windows over and over again. Luckily it works now, but man was it a pain in the ass.

I went into it knowing next to nothing about it, so it was surprising to me.

Recently watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Expected a fairly standard moe magical girl anime, but got something much much different (and much much better)

Has anyone seen Numenera? It ends in about 13 hours as of this post.

After looking at it and reading all the blog posts about the gameplay mechanics on his blog I went ahead and backed it for $80 so I get the $60 tier and a print copy of the Player Guide.

It seems to have a wonderful sci-fi/fantasy setting (which I adore), and mechanics that are simple to understand, but can be easily made more complex if needed for the situation.

Just got through my first play session which took about 30 minutes for one run.

It's really fun I must say. I enjoy having to balance out the usage of your ship's power between all the systems, as well as the general scarcity of scrap (the currency of the game). When choices come up you should really think and consider what could happen if you choose a particular answer, because there can be pretty big consequences (and rewards as well).

Combat can get intense really fast. After a couple bad choices I was left with a single crew member. Shortly after entering combat half the ship was on fire, and the door systems were out, meaning I couldn't suffocate the fires. The weapon systems were heavily damaged, resulting in only a single weapon able to be fired. Oxygen systems were also down, causing some major health problems for my last guy. Before I knew it everything had gone to shit, and I was destroyed.

It's a wonderful game, and one with high replay value due to randomness. Definitely worth the price.

Possible, yeah, but I think most people who will download the mod are people who already played Half-Life 1 and just want to see how these people redid it with more modern technology.

Well it's a mod built off Half-Life 2, not a standalone game. Also if Valve really had an issue they would've done something about it by now, seeing as the mod had been in development for quite a few years.

That's the thing, from the videos I thought it looked pretty fun, but after playing it I found it rather dull.

Exactly what crowe said. This beta was very underwhelming. Bland, repetitive, finicky controls, and just generally not fun.

It's like Conker's doppelganger
