If you're more interested in making games (which I'd assume you are), then I'd go with Unity. It's a 3D engine that's powerful, easy to use, and free. You can also do 2D looking games in it without much effort.

Thought of a game I'd like to make, then realized it's similar to Deshori (AFAIK). Also the only visual style I seem to be able to do is the same sort of style as Deshori

You weren't in it, so evidently not.
Was there a guy in a rainbow-coloured suit standing awkwardly by the refreshments? No. You were being grinded on by phubans. ... D: I can totally see this happening too

Khajiit, one-handed axes, daggers, and bows. Mostly stealth killing enemies, occasionally using Fury for amusement, and using an axe + lightning spell when in full combat

Yeah the lowest difficulty (which is also the default one) is kind of a joke. It's almost like one of those regen health cover shooters except you don't need to be behind cover for your health to regenerate.
The default for me seems to be "adept" ... is it a different default for pc vs xbox? There's an easier difficulty than adept in this game? Yeah, there are 5 difficulties and Adept is the 3rd (Medium)
