Awesome, Xander! I will post that... maybe tomorrow or Sunday for maximum impact. Great game, btw. I may change the link to the Home of the Underdogs page about Ninkujin (if it decides to load). Bigboss, I don't know how I feel about posting an ED review, but you definitely gave me a hard-on, so it was worth it.

There's that, but in general being an indie at all can't really be justified from a business standpoint. Any good indie could easily work at EA or something and make 5x-10x as much, and (probably) for easier work.
Yeah, but also really boring, crippling, soulless work. What I don't understand are indies who make bad casual games. Because then you're doing boring, crippling, soulless work with no job security. Anyway, congrats again on releasing the game! Tell us how things are going with it!

Awesome idea, PoV! And to make it easier, how about if... when you post up your sound effect, mention whether or not it's free to use, free to use for free projects only, etc.

Guys, I just want to add, if you feel like writing a review for the site, just go ahead and put it here. I'm getting swamped, so it's hard for me to give all the games enough playtime. DON'T REVIEW YOUR OWN GAMES, okay?! The key is just to give a basic overall impression of the game, maybe throw some jokes in there. You know, real hard-hitting game journalism and stuff. Also, WTF:

Whoo, awesome! Congrats! Let me know when / if you want me to run it on TIGSource. I'm embarrassed to say I still haven't gotten to spend much more than a little bit with it, but I'll give the demo a good playing through as soon as I can (which I hope is somewhat soon).
I'm curious why you chose $22.95 as your price point? $20 seems to be the comfort zone for most people to buy an indie game (not to mention it's an even number and a readily available denomination), and adding $3 to that seems odd to me.

Huh, Tee Gee, that is very interesting! So, from what I'm hearing, it seems to be eSellerate if you're in Eastern Europe or Asia, or BMT Micro or Plimus otherwise, although BMT Micro sounds like it's more reliable overall (if you're willing to pay a little more)... or if you're developing Mac software only, then Kagi? Nice, ravuya! What's the biggest (most successful, well-known, etc.) game company you can think of that uses Kagi? I know Ambrosia use them and have for years and years. So do a bunch of other Mac shareware shops. Really, they still use it, even now? BTW, have you talked to Valve about going on Steam? Would be pretty cool, and you certainly have the IGF buzz to go off of. [email protected]. Not yet, but we probably will at some point.

Developer / Technical / Re: A Question on C#

Hmmm, you need some clarification, I think. 1. C++ IS object oriented. 2. I wouldn't call MMF, 3d Game Studio "actual" game engines. In fact, they aren't really engines... just game making software. 3. And as far as I know, C++ is more "hardcore" than Visual Basic, at least for game programming. I don't think too many people use VB for making games. (Waits for someone to prove me wrong. ) I don't know about C#, but it's close enough to C++ that if you "know" the basics, you're good. Although my impression is that you don't "know" C++, you just understand some of the basic ideas behind it, am I correct? If you just want to make games for fun, continue using MMF, 3d Game Studio, or something else.

Most every game I've worked on began as just talking, and from there I hit my sketchbook and start drawing. When it comes time to organize thoughts and ideas, nothing beats Notepad!

I believe your question is quite relevant fartron but perhaps it would be more fitting if you started a thread in the art section. I think that this thread is getting too much attention and that your question is worth it's own thread! Later! Splitted and moved!

I guess for convenience's sake, I'm going to leave them out. I want to make this thread primarily for people who are interested in starting a company and making a living (or at least a partial living) from selling games. For people who just want to sell some games here and there, there are plenty of options.
