Ah, yes, but what it does it does well, my friend! Plus, I enjoy the mythology behind the game.
It looks good... the cinematic trailer is quite amazing, natch. Definitely needs to be checked out. The detail in the space marine armor blows me away.

GTAIII deserves to be up there, but not number 1! It's obvious GTAIII has also had a great impact on gaming since it came out, but it's not obvious (to me, at least) that in 20 years' time it will have had the same impact that Mario did up until this point.
I dunno, it's like comparing Beethoven to Britney Spears for me, in terms of influence. That's a bit of a stretch, but you get my point.

Derek eyes you cheerfully and exclaims, "The thing about robots is..."
He pauses, looking out the hole in the wall at the hoard of toasterbots shuffling toward the room. Their angry, lipstick drawn faces are unchanged. Somewhere in the distance, a woman's scream is heard. When Derek turns back at you, a frightened, manic expression has replaced his cheerful grin. He grabs your shoulders and stares hard into your eyes.
"You listen to me, and listen good. They'll kill us all. You, me, EVERYONE. Even the younglings. ESPECIALLY the younglings.
You gotta destroy them."
Derek lets you go and, with a loud cry, rushes at the door and kicks the padlock forcefully, breaking it in half but also shattering every bone in his leg and spine. He falls to the floor, whimpering.
"GO! The destruct button is further in... but beware, it's guarded by Dan Tabar, and he's only wearing a towel..."
Derek dies.
You see here a saw, a circuit board, a broken padlock, and a Derek's corpse.
There are exits East, North.

Oh, god... GTAIII as the most important game of all time? Madden as number 2! I thought it wasn't a sales contest. Oh wait, it's GamePro. :D Alright, here's my list that I'm putting very little thought into: 1. Super Mario Bros. (just... damn) 2. Tetris (mainstream success, puzzle gaming, clonage) 3. Doom (3d gaming, internets, controversy) 4. Ultima (RPGs) 5. The Legend of Zelda (less obvious, but it basically influenced every fantasy / exploration style game that came after it, I think) 6. Sim City (simulation gaming) 7. Pac Man(arcade) 8. Warcraft (basically the beginning of Blizzard and their empire and all that it influences... more important than Dune II because no one has heard of Dune II) 9. Street Fighter 2 (fighting games) 10. Tim W.'s Enormous Balls (indie gaming, natch)

Heya! You've got a nice start here - I like the main character and the overall atmosphere! I agree about the controls, though... walking is too slippery and jumping feels a bit too stiff. A few other thoughts: The particle effects should be pixelled as well, imo, to fit better with the rest of the game. A couple of the sound effects were a bit ear-piercing, like the death sound of the flying yellow guys. On the title screen and in the menus, you should allow the player to advance using the mouse. The "Enter" button is quite a reach, given your control scheme. Be mindful of color usage: the green blocks you have in your demo are too bright and the light streaks have too much contrast. The end result is that they're hard to look at. They're also harder to distinguish from the background than they should be. Try something like this, maybe: But yeah, great start and I can't wait to see what comes next! Getting a boombox that changes the music is indeed awesome.

You examine the robot.
It looks a bit like an over-sized toaster oven with short, rubbery legs sticking out the bottom. It's shuffling about the room, pushing piles of dust around with its legs.
Affixed to the back of the robot is a rather large dial with three settings. From left to right, the settings are labeled as follows: "Plankton," "Larry Bird's Moustache," and "NHP."
On the front of the robot a crude smiley face has been drawn in what looks like lipstick.
The robot's dial is currently set to "Plankton."

My friend locked me in his room and forced me to beat the final boss in Eternal Daughter for him once. I hadn't touched the game in years and it took me like 30 tries to do it. That guy is hard! (but fair )

Dawn of Sorrow is second place to Symphony for me, but its a VERY close race.
I hear ya! I love the soul system, but nothing tops Symphony for sheer grandeur. Also, Inverted Castle! What the shit is that weapon?? I never saw anything like that when I played Gungnir, the best polearm in the game! Requires a bunch of souls to upgrade. It's awesome.

Just out of curiosity, why ban this guy? I know its somewhat of a spam post, but isn't it reasonable that he might want feedback here? I mean, he actually replied to a post.
I may have been slightly trigger happy with this one, but I was 99% sure that he wasn't interested in feedback and just wanted to advertise his game. In fact, it was his reply that convinced me as such.
