Just finished the main story line, took about 10 hours. The game oscillated between very pleasant and rather annoying (such as the pixel hunt scene)- but overall, it was an enjoyable experience.
SPOILER:
For those who have finished it, did you get started on the second storyline? How big is it?

"I love sex in bathtubs full of chocolate syrup."
That's a personal statement I think. I understand why writing 4000 words of that would be embarrassing.

Story: Surprisingly good. Voices: Some good, some bad. Samus sometimes showcases her indifference to the universe, but sometimes it sounds like female Jeff Goldblum. Action: Top-notch. Level Design: Pretty linear compared to most games in the series, but not bad. Graphics: Sexy. Samus: Sexier. Controls: Smooth as butter. Difficulty: Sometimes easy, sometimes hard. Puzzles are jokes. I'm really enjoying it so far!
About 4-5 hours in, same opinion!

I actually read in some reviews that the plot and character development were among the strong points of that game.
I don't know yet how much I will enjoy it- the only Metroids I've played were on the GBA. The main thing that urged me to get it was that Amazon.com offered a $20 off video game voucher for any Other M pre-orders.

Just stumbled on this- it's supposed to be a list of upcoming features Notch has announced at Minecraftcon. I don't know how reliable it is (Notch will be able to confirm I guess :D ) but if it is true, it is going to be awesome. Can't wait to see sea monsters and whales from my underwater glass city Also, congrats on the 100k, Notch! PS: This is crack.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona just didn't cut it for me. Personal ideal would have been Ellen Page, but then again Ellen Page is my personal ideal for everything.
^ This Ellen Page is perfect for every role and don't any of you say otherwise. These two fine men have perfectly expressed the Truth.

I'm marking the first assignments for an intermediate Java class in college. Out of 20 students, only 10 handed it in. Out of these 10, only less than half handed in programs that compile, and out of these only half handed in programs that don't crash at launch. Wait, so out of 20 people you got 2 or 3 working programs handed in? Haha that's bloody terrible! How old are the students? Pretty much! It's a class meant for students who have already taken a semester of Java, so most of them are in their second-third year of college; ie. 20-21 years old. And what the hell was the assignment?
It was the first assignment, meant to assess their Java proficiency. Define a "Student" class with attributes such as name, student id, etc., and then write a main method that loads students from a file into an array of object, and allows you to add students in the array, delete them or modify their attributes.

Guys, it's barely been 24 hours since my last play and just reading your posts make me miss the game as if I hadn't played in years.

The MIT Media Lab gives you a master's. You can pursue your research there for a Ph.D., but it's definitely master's oriented.
And yes, everything there is fascinating, and the position is great (stipend, no tuition, insurance, etc.). However, it is REALLY hard to get into. They have over a thousand applicants a year, and take roughly 50.
I applied there last year, and didn't make it to even the interviews. I think it's mostly due to the fact that even though my past experience and interests completely correspond to what they do, I have little industry experience, and no research experience.
I'll definitely apply there again in a couple years though- even if it's not for getting a diploma, but just for a research/development position. Their projects are fascinating.

Even better than binding keys to value modifiers: using XML (or other data) files. This allows you to ship the game in the end without having to remove any extra code, and also opens it up to modding by enthusiastic players.
