Anyway, list needs more Treasure.

You say this, but neglect Seventh Force?
SEVEN(TH) FORCE
(I honestly prefer the Alien Soldier one.)

We also need some more Ristar.

And now just for random favorites.

One year older.

(Anybody with a night-time action, get that to me promptly. Thank you.)

Greetings, everyone! This is your friendly neighborhood computer overlord speaking!

I would like to announce that night has fallen! Sweet dreams, my princes and princesses, as you frolic through the meadows of fluffy fairy-tales and peaceful paradises.

I would also like to remind you that a curfew is in place, punishable by some extraordinarily messy disciplinary actions! So you should probably hurry along to your restful sleeping, yes?

Sincerely, INANI

My non-fiction appetite has grown recently:

  • The Etymologicon by Mark Forsyth
  • What Technology Wants by Kevin Kelly
  • Where Good Ideas Come From by Steven Johnson

(Previous books included Freakonomics, Superfreakonomics and A Brief History of the World... I still really want to read Guns, Germs and Steel, but it's not out on Kindle.)

I would recommend reading some Dan Ariely. One of the best non-fiction authors I've read in ages.

I meant unfair as that seems sufficiently 'old' for TIGS standards.

(also it was partly a joke)
347  Player / General / Re: I miss the old crowd on: June 29, 2012, 08:19:09 PM
2009, so no

old is february 2007 (first month of the tigs forums)

Plenty of old people haven't existed since the dawn of the time. That seems an unfair criterion.

Yep. Texas folks have it rough.
349  Player / General / Re: TIGSTWG XXIII: The Name of Protection [DAY1] on: June 29, 2012, 10:53:38 AM
(I just realized I didn't make this clear!

The first day ends when everyone speaks, or by, say... Monday? It's just for introduction and such, after all!)
350  Player / General / Re: TIGSTWG XXIII: The Name of Protection [DAY1] on: June 28, 2012, 06:16:23 PM
(Deadline for the day is set at a week. That seems a reasonable amount of time, no?)

Good morning, citizens! My, we have a big day ahead of us, don't we?

I have dispatched my ORA officers into your town -- send them my greetings, if you happen to find them! They have blended effortlessly into the ranks of Orwell. As of today, they have been granted administrator access, giving them full reign to carry out the duties I've given them! Tonight, they will begin to investigate into the full extent of your rebel problem!

There has been no confirmation of rebels in your town, as of yet, though! Therefore, there will be no public execution today! Hopefully your town doesn't have a rebel problem after all, right?

Just kidding! I'm 99.9% sure it does!

Have a good day, everyone! And stay on the lookout for those revolutionaries for me, will ya?

Sincerely, INANI

I said interpreted.  Tongue

I always interpreted those 'features for ransom', as JWK put it, as "we can devote resources to this if we have the money for it."

Garthy, are you particularly involved with your local government, perchance? You seem like the guy who would head the PTA with much gusto.

Thanks, Garthy. Smiley

That's pretty fucking insane when you think about it.

Carl Sagan was a great man. Smiley

The year is 20XX. The world flourishes under the rule of the INANI computer system, the benevolent leader of all of civilization, who has guided humanity into a new age of utopia and paradise, where comfort and salvation have been secured for all. The INANI network is omnipresent in daily life, defending and upholding the welfare of the human race, protecting us from war, poverty, crime -- protecting us from ourselves.

Hello, everybody! It has come to my attention that a few disagreeable individuals have infiltrated your quaint township of Orwell -- these people are an underground terrorist cell that call themselves Freedom's Road, and gosh, they could pose some serious danger to our wonderful society if they remain at large!

I would like to ask for your assistance and cooperation as my ORA agents - very nice guys! - investigate the matter of the rebellion in your village. Due to security concerns, you know the sort, I can't enlighten you as to their identities! Sorry about that, but I'm sure you can work your way around it!

While my officers pursue their lines of inquiry, I will also be rolling into action some daily public executions! Hopefully you understand that, if you happen to be executed, it isn't anything personal! Since I value the input of my beloved citizens, the executions will of course be put up to public vote! I'm not running a dictatorship here, y'know?

Thanks again for your understanding, and have a nice day!

Sincerely, INANI

I had absolutely no clue. I was just voting on him because I had to vote for somebody, and he seemed very confrontational.

Hahaha, that's rich. Fastest game of TWG ever?
