Heh, yeah, I do enjoy regular board games, but I prefer ones that at least pretend to have some degree of strategy involved.

And I also agree that it is a cool aesthetic. Today I got quite interested when my friend was explaining a certain board in Mario Party 8 which is apparently a riff on the game mechanics of Monopoly. It got me thinking about how awesome it would be if they released a Mario Party game where every board was like this - with a Cluedo level, a Risk level and so on.

I enjoyed that stage a lot, yeah. I like the difference in gameplay. And that idea is pretty interesting, also!

Oh, and about Risk and such? Too complicated for me! But, I like watching my two older brothers play it, when they are here at our house visiting. Very fun to watch! Not to play, for me, though.

Why has this thread become about board games, Michaels, and such?

Slightly funny, but I found it more not 'hardcore' but... fanboy? Can't think of a good word.

Haha, reminds me of a cool memory. One time, while playing Mario Party, my best friend was convinced after a few minutes by everyone to not buy the Star, and thus he lost.

Oh, and Will (Broom)? I agree! I just like the idea. It has a nice aesthetic. Maybe, in another game with 'board game' ideas, you get higher dice numbers the better you do in the minigames, or something else that replaces that?

And what about regular board games? Do you find them fun?

Just when his warranty expires too! We'll need to get a new one.

You didn't find even ONE of the minigames to be fun?

Maybe I'm just not indie enough but Mario Party was pretty fun for me.

Same! I like some of the more unique minigames! I also love the board game mechanic.

Question:

Who voted for Auditorium? I am just wondering your opinions, and such. I voted for Cave Story, just because I like it's game play more.

there is an online game not sure what its called, but you fight zombies and when you die you become a zombie, and from then on you can not be killed jsut knocked down. although i guess there is a quest you can go on to return yourself to human form. but its nice to see that when you die you have a consequence. can you imagine in god of war if you had to escape hades everytime you died, actually dibs on that idea, nobody touch it.

Has been done. I remember reading about a game, in Greece, with that exact premise. You fought fallen enemies, the ones you killed. Pretty cool. Forgot the name of it though...

Non sequitor game comp? random gameplay mechanic/story line/ something interupts you after you think you are starting the game.

just throwing it out there. I think this would be a better idea for a single game, then an entire competition, but it would be fun to see who could produce the most artfully tenuous change in a game.

Maybe a whole bunch of them, but keeping a singular theme, like If on a winters night a traveler?

An eye in a hand.

Actually, I think it looks like a fiery frying pan.

What about Monaco?
Quote from: wikipedia article about Monaco
An average person takes only 56 minutes to walk across the width of the country.

So is it a very long country, or just tiny overall?

How about an 'Enraging Game' -compo? Everyone should make a game, with some enraging aspect. Though it would need some restrictions, so that the games wouldn't be impossible.

Aw, beat me to it! But, that sounds fun. But infuriating, too.  Giggle

Urk... for people who don't type normally, this is quite hard. I type with only two fingers at a time, and it is hard.

Actually, no, it is multibillion dollar industries. That's where it starts getting weird/awesome/stupid. Basically, in the world of Sellout, there are large-scale corporations seated out in the wasteland that, somehow, manage to still make a profit. This is partly due to hired mercenaries that help scare away customers from competitors' stores. Stocks mean everything to the corporations, so they hire these mercs (or "stock managment firms") to wreck the competitors' business and drive down the value of their stocks. When the SMFs began attacking the actual factories, the corporations took scrap metal from bombed cities to create new ones. In short, we have giant walking factories that simply drop new stores from its underside like so many offspring. Did I mention this is going to be really, really weird? (Also, I know this isn't quite how the stock market works. Humor me here.)
