Yes, it should. Animals have a lot of character, and thus you should rightfully enjoy drawing them. You are not even close to reaching even remotely disturbing territory, so by all means continue.

I agree about the flow. The flow and wonderful controls makes Sonic 3 & Knuckles the best platformer ever, in my humble opinion. But Sonic Advance had absolutely no flow, so I can't really see where you're coming from.
Yeah, I probably should've said just Sonic Advance 2. 1 and 3 were both pretty mediocre, but 2 is one of the best 2D Sonic games if you ask me. Looks like somebody got their Bigs the Cat Underoo's tied up in a knot. Don't be a douchebag. I don't think I ever said in that post that I'm happy with the way things currently are for the franchise? I'm just tired of people having the same argument over and over again. We get it, the series isn't what it used to be. Get over it.

Whereas Sega seems to have forgotten ages ago what made Sonic great ("Sonic runs around really goddamn fast")
No, just no. Sonic was never about running "really goddamn fast". Even at top speed, the original Sonic games are not that fast. They ARE, however, about clever platforming and trying to keep your momentum going. This is also where I think they were at flaw and were not emphasizing enough on the character that Sonic is. The newer Sonic games (especially Sonic Advance and Rush series) do a much better job at that, and thus I think these are far better games than the original Sonic games.

Can't we all just let the Sonic thing rest already? People should accept that Sonic is not for them anymore and move the fuck on instead of taking every opportunity presented to them to bash on it some more.

Player / General / CALL FOR HELP: Risking losing a job offer because of copyright laws
|
on: November 19, 2009, 12:28:03 AM

Hi guys, So, I've gotten offered a freelance job at a big Canada-based developer (not naming anything for now). Everything seemed fine, and I was just waiting for the contract to be mailed, when I suddenly got an e-mail saying that they cannot contract me because of the difference between copyright laws here in the Netherlands and over in Canada. What it came down to was that they could never fully own the artwork I would do for them and would have to ask for my permission to use or alter the artwork every time. My solution (which, as far as I know, is common practice) was that it should clearly say in the contract that they would retain the rights to all the artwork. This was fine with me, and should give them all the approval they will ever need. However, this was apparently not legal and so they just could not offer me the contract. This is where you come in, Tiggers: does anyone know more about this matter? Have any of the European members here done freelance work for the US or Canada? If so, how did you solve this issue? Please help. I don't want to lose this opportunity.

Yeah, I've seen these a while back in this thread I think (and also ofcourse on the back of Volume 5). Big fan here, dude. You've been a big inspiration to me for a long while. Those Scott Pilgrim animations you did are ace as well!

Let the age of the randomly drawn pixel girls BEGIN!
Not really a random girl, but it sort of counts I guess: Ramona Flowers, of Scott Pilgrim fame, as portrayed on the cover of Volume 5.

The idea I had is a co-op Shmup. The clunky-looking ship is, indeed, a carrying unit. It can only ire slow, heavy artillery but it's the only ship that can collect upgrades, money, etc. The smaller ship, controlled by another player, is fast, and can shoot weak bullets, but in rapid succession.
The design makes sense then Cool!

Excellent design. you always pick such great colours. Masna: Cool, but I'm not sure about the player ship there. Looks a bit too clunky and not really like something you'd want to fight enemy ships with. It seems more like a transport unit to me. Also: are they flying straight up while the enemies are crashing straight down? Looks a bit weird with the background like that. Great clouds, by the way
