Today is indeed a glorious day in Indie Games land  Beer!
Cheers, I've been waiting for this to be free for a long time now. It's one of the best shmups ever.

This is really awesome. The guy with the beard is my fave.
I love it!!
Haha, I was just about to say that I liked the beard guy. All the other characters look like toddlers, then there's this dude with rad facial hair  Grin

444  Player / General / Re: so it's friday the thirteenth. on: June 13, 2008, 07:12:35 PM
Well I had a really good week up until Friday, was offered a sort of promotion of sorts to join the programming team of my work rather than the testing team. Suddenly I'm pulled away from that and my boss tries to give me support jobs to do, shit like calling people and helping them with the software. Completely the opposite of what I wanted and was hoping for.

Also, me and three close friends had plans to do an 'epic walk' where we'd go for a massive walk across West Auckland after watching a movie, in the middle of the night. last time we did it was great fun. unfortunately the plans died because one of the friends' dad got sent to hospital with heart problems.

so yeah it was a pretty shit day. made all the more worse because the week up to that point was going actually quite well and I was finally starting to be happy with my life again.

That... was incredible. Loved it. Not so sure about the ending, but the rest was great.  Beer! cheers for the find!
446  Player / Games / Re: Strong Non-Sexualized Female Leads on: June 08, 2008, 12:49:05 AM
Ugh, the other day I saw on some gaming blog that there was some MMO where overnight an update changed the breast size of all the female characters. There were two pictures of the characters on the blog, one with massive knockers and one with "regular" sized breasts.

I saw the pics and thought "No wonder there's so much negative feedback for this, look at the stupid size of those breasts. They're enormous. It's good to hear that people are complaining about the unrealistic size of them" then I realised that the smaller breast picture was the 'after' shot and the complaints were that the boobs had shrunk. Oh god was I pissed  Angry

I guess it's a matter of personal preference though. I'm not a fan of large breasts.  Huh?
447  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: Engrish ; "A fucked up adventure game" on: June 07, 2008, 05:27:06 PM
Yeah I'm pretty sure I got up to that point last night then it just closed. was pretty disappointing, for some reason I wanted to know how it ended o.o

Oh and I didn't get any of those full-screen cutscene images you have in your posts... all the conversations were over a static gameplay scene.

if Pro-Motion really is -that- good, maybe I'll start saving. It's definitely worth the cash?

(Photoshop is waaay outa my league. I felt uncomfortable using it at school.. I'm more of a GIMP man)

ProMotion seems a bit expensive  Shocked US$ 78.00? That's like, three indie game companies that could be supported  Cry
450  Player / General / Re: What are you listening to at the moment? on: June 06, 2008, 12:26:10 AM
Currently Lacuna Coil.

I bought Opeth's new album Watershed today  Grin Opeth has recently passed Tool as my favourite band, and passed Dream Theater in the "most CDs I have bought from a single band" category at 9 CDs! (Including one live.. I'm missing their first album  Embarrassed )

452  Player / General / Re: No More Sweden on: June 05, 2008, 10:41:32 PM
There's a clip in the extended section of the Dethklok DVD where it has a conversation that goes something like:

Skiwsgar: "Well in Finland ruler is man with best horse"
Toki: "Yeah? well in Sweden, man with worstest horse is ruler!"
Nathan: "Hahaha, is that true Skwisgar? The man with the worst horse is the ruler?"
Skwisgar: "actually yes, that is true"

...but when I got to that Slayer song... I actually had to grease my fingers to play that damn song. true story.

AUGH. I have no freakin' clue why they chose that Slayer song. It's a great song, but not a great Guitar Hero song. They should have used Angel of Death from the same album. It would be way better to play. Raining Blood is pretty much "PLAY ALL INSTRUMENTS AS FAST AS CAN THEN THROW AT EACH OTHER". Again, love the song, love the album, but not a good GH choice Tongue

Aren't you a bit tired of 'godzilla meets bambi'-style gags?
no
455  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: The Seal Hunter - a somewhat gory shmup on: June 01, 2008, 02:48:15 PM
YES!

Manbaby or no, I freakin' love this game.

I downloaded it aaages ago, hooked up a game controller and me and my friend would play it for hours on end. I love the gore, it's absolutely perfect. Watching the little seals struggle across the ground after shooting them is great, but the best part is running up and body-slamming them at that point, in glorious (gore-ious) slow motion.

It's one of the best co-op multiplayer free indie games around. I absolutely adore it. Only feedback I can give is to perhaps shove in some difficulty levels, because it's freaking hard without 2 players. Even with 2 players it's freaking hard.

Oh, and the title screen? Absolutely perfect. I love that picture. Any chance of getting an unedited, non-menu version of it as a desktop image? :D thanks.
456  Player / General / Re: Wii Homebrew Channel on: May 27, 2008, 10:45:59 PM
Is released.

 http://hbc.hackmii.com/

video of it running there too.

You'll need the Twilight Princess hack one time only, the channel installs itself and auto-updates and stuff.

ScummVM, N64, region-free Gamecube, all shown.

Let the good times roll!

One question about it that I couldn't find in the F.A.Q. or anywhere, is it detectable by Nintendo? will they prevent me from playing games online if I have it installed?
457  Player / Games / Re: I'm so indie... on: May 25, 2008, 10:02:03 PM
I'm so indie I type with my e-penis.
My tremendously large indie e-penis.
Which is large because it is indie.
Tremendously so.
So much so that I can type with it.
Which I do.
I bet it reaches nearly all the way from A to Z on the keyboard.

I'm so indie that I can't see magenta.

I still think that's the funniest one in this thread :D
Oh god, I can't believe I just got that  :D hilarious
