Oh god, their stuff works so well together. It's a perfect combination!
There's also a video of the song and animation they did on Youtube but it's pretty crappy quality. :V

You gotta follow *people*, not brand names. One reason I love indie. I trust Derek Yu the person and not "Derek Yu Ltd." which would be some brand with who knows what person driving it forward.
... I hope Derek's company isn't actually called Derek Yu Ltd. :V Also, I agree. I tend to follow the works of specific people. Daisuke Ishiwatari is probably one of my favourite professional game designers, known for his work on Guilty Gear. That man is a GENIUS. Akihiro Hino, the man behind Professor Layton, and most of the games developed by Level-5 is pretty god damn amazing too. <33

Sorta agree with Melly, but they've always been up and down. Genesis era: Great, PS1 era: eh, PS2 era: great, Current: eh.
ps1 era = n64 era they released bangai-o, sin and punishment and mischief makers on n64 ]:

As far as I know, Treasure has taken a heavy dive in recent years. When before they used to make some of the highest quality games in the industry, nowadays they don't seem to get on the spotlight at all, and I never hear of anything good coming out of them.
So working in Treasure may not be an attractive prospect if all you'll do is work on licensed games, unless you enjoy tha kinda stuff.
I disagree!

Got my 16th badge and got GB Sounds. I also laughed at how the graphic designer at Gamefreak says he's a skilled dot artist. Those silly japanese and their different terminology!

My favorite game company is Treasure, hands down. My only complaint is that they've been making a lot of licensed games recently (like Bleach fighting games), which is kind of frustrating; their original IPs are fantastic!
holy shit yes! i cant believe i forgot treasure. gunstar heroes is my favourite co-op game ever. mischief makers is nostalgic as hell for me too.

I think it's pretty obvious I'm a big Nintendo fanboy. Sure, they get some hate because of their Wii [Activity] games that are mostly huge selling casual oriented tech demos, but you can tell people like Iwata and Miyamoto are people who love games. Iwata, for example, got into games creation when he was really young and is a big Kirby fan Also, Nintendo is one of the few big comapanies who really like making 2D platformers, and they're really good at that. I think Nintendo is easily the top dog of the gaming industry. They have a strong attention to unique gameplay and concepts and it helps them a shitload in the long run. They can get lots of unique series out of their ideas. I also love Nippon Ichi, but I'm a flat out nerd when it comes to strategy rpgs and good art styles.

I think the best companies are the ones that actually make games for the fun of it and the result of the game, rather than something they can make money off of. Also, the ones that listen to their fans and don't fix what isn't broken.
Everything that isn't Sega, basically
Capcom is a personal favourite of mine. Majority of their games are stupidly fun and they always talk about how much fun it is to make their games, especially with the 8-bit stuff like Mega Man 9. They also show that they care for what the fans think and they listen to the massive demand, as seen by them bringing Tatsunoko Vs Capcom to America.
Konami seems to be on the ball about making good games but I think the way Kojima directs is making the games seem way too movie-like. Not saying Kojima is bad, since I actually love a lot of his work, especially the Boktai series, but the more recent Metal Gear games and the new Castlevania for 360 are way too movie-like.
A lot of professionals seem to be losing faith in the direction of the industry and are going indie because of games becoming too movie-like and story driven. I think the only real difference between indie and professional is we don't see games are just a source of income.
