I'm bumping this topic to say that 1up and I are really limited in what we can do and we are looking for people too help this game actually get finished.

We can do animations and characters/ enemies ourselves but neither of us are really uhh, good at anything else so we need a background artist/ level designer, a musician and a programmer.

And believe it or not, we do look for quality, so PM or email either of us with examples of what you've done if you want to help us out. We'll reply if we like you and your stuff.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My life as a king is a simple game where all you do is earn money, build a city, recruit soldiers and tell them what to do and at the end of the day, they'll return with their job done while all you did was run around and manage the city.

It's a simple concept and has no real fighting but I found this game fun as hell and I played it up to 9 hours a day for a week when I first bought it.

I suggest you play games such as Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and Chulip (haven't played the latter, but it fits, from what I've heard).
Touching up on this point, when Harvest Moon introduced fighting and RPG elements, in the Rune Factory series, I actually lost interest in Harvest Moon. :U

Make that a game or I'll kick your teeth in. ;o;

It's so pretty for something so simple. <3

I know this may not be a good example but the gameplay/ gimmicks on the wii are a major reason for why it appeals to such a broad audience and why the games are known moreso for being fun than deep. Mario Galaxy made excellent use of the wiimote and i love the hell out of that game. SM64 and Sunshine were excellent too but Galaxy was definitely my favourite and had the most memorable gameplay.

Even in indie gaming, Noitu Love 2 had a unique gameplay style and made use of the mouse as well as keyboard for intense and appealing action.

I'm not saying we should be going all out and using everything at our disposable but those games were exceptionally memorable for me for their gameplay and how they were fun long after beating them. Gameplay, graphics and sound makes the game and we're fine with graphics and sound isn't our specialty at all but gameplay is something we(i actually mean 1up will do everything and ill be taking credit anyway) need to be working on and I know that unique and fun gameplay is something i look for in a game so it's only natural to feel that wonderbros should have a gameplay that will make people say in the future "hey this game is kinda like wonderbros".

but uhh i guess its ok to play lots of games and draw inspiration from them. HMMM

Is it a fast-paced game?
-> Add a combo system that requires tight timing for button clicks, like the Gunblade from FF8 or the combo system from Legends of the Dragoon.  Basic idea, you have a combo (and can earn more as you get farther!) that goes like Button [half second] Button [quarter second] Button [half second] Button.  You have a little visualization above your character or on the GUI somewhere that shows you appropriate timing.  If you hit the combos, you do more damage.
Legend of Dragoon was one of my favourite RPG battle systems ever. Legend of Legaia's owned too.

One of Marths attacks in SSBB is similar to the LoD battle combo thing. It'd be cool to see in a real side scrolling beat em up. Probably be a pain in the ass though.

The second Lost Winds game came out on wiiware today. That looks pretty cool!

I'm mainly looking forward to Crystal Bearers, Tales of Graces and Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
