But that's a visual novel... although I'm sure it would be fine in a compo, I wouldn't normally consider it IF.
Personally I would. It's just the same as the "Choose your own adventure" books. I view IF as anything where the gameplay is only typing commands, or choosing a path. That's just me though.

I understand it's an alpha but I couldn't get this thing to be fun at all. I tried to go up the slants all sonic style, but the game was like "LoL, No!" and I think the wallkick has a bug where it activates too soon if you jump from the ground right next to a wall.

Okay, I gave it a go, despite hating game maker, and I don't think it's anything spacial as is. It needs more presentation, and the fact that there was no boarder was annoying, and ugly. I also think you should have the ball's x and y track the mouse instead of using the arrows.

You should have different kinds of balls too. Like maybe red ones that are on fire and go fast, or blue ones that are really slow.
