16  Developer / Collaborations / AS3 programmers wanted on: December 21, 2012, 12:38:48 PM
Hey all,

I'm a full-time game designer and artist looking to increase my programmer contacts to make some smallish Flash games and bounce ideas around with. Looking for motivated, passionate coders who can get creative with code (particle effects etc.) and are able to add 'juice' to a game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy0aCDmgnxg

All sponsorship monies will be split 50/50.

My portfolio can be seen at http://www.FlashChaz.com, but please really only take note of my latest game Slay With Santa as it shows my new art style. I can also send you other examples of my newest stuff.

My Skype is 'FlashChaz.com'

Cheers!

Hey guys,

Marsh Games and I released our game 'Slay With Santa' yesterday. Any feedback appreciated:

We left it quite late to make a game for Christmas so put this together in about two weeks and self published.

Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks G.Ray, yeah I'm all about the animation and design these days  Gentleman

I'm down for this; would like to get a game on the platform to bulster the portfolio and get some more experience in the console area if anything. I did start making an XBLIG before with a programmer but it felt through, so I have a little experience in exporting graphic animation png sequences and a little knowledge with resolutions etc.

My work can be seen at on my website here and I've got MSN and Skype to stay in contact with.

@jotapeh Thank you for the feedback, Morgan is a great music guy to work with. With regards to explosive weapons, short of the epic weapons you can unlock there's not really anything 'explosive' as such. But we'll note that for a possible sequel, thanks Smiley

@Spydog Thanks! Really glad to hear you enjoyed it and I understand about the interface. I actually didn't design it, it kind of came back to me from the programmer's idea and we added to it etc., so it really was a collaborative effort. Alot of the time programmers that I work with tend to pick up discretional design duty and add things I hadn't really considered before, but I'm trying to be more stricter with some other games I'm working on regarding HUD and feedback design.

@dense The game was actually originally called UFPWNED but we changed due to sponsor request...glad you enjoyed the game though Smiley

Oh, we did make prompting arrows but we didn't put them in because we couldn't really find a good time to use them. We just thought people would discover they could scroll almost right away. Thanks for the feedback though, I'll bare it in mind if we update or something.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

In response to your post Rich, you don't have to shoot a laser first; you can use the middle mouse button or space bar Well, hello there!

And your laser gets more powerful the more play, so eventually you get to destroy things with just one shot!

Hi!

My new game with ReconditeArcher was released on Bubblebox the other day. It's my first shot at doing pixel art; I went for the Atari 2600 kind of era. Please check it out here: http://www.bubblebox.com/play/action/20130207.htm and let us know what you think!

It got picked as IndieGames.com browser pick too which we're rather chuffed about Smiley

On a side note, any feedback on my new website design (http://www.FlashChaz.com) would be appreciated. I've gone for a more compact and personal portfolio than it was before.

Thanks
Chaz
25  Developer / Creative / Echo Island on IndieGoGo.com on: April 22, 2011, 06:03:06 PM
As I'm in the UK it's not possible for me to start a Kickstarter project, which I've always wanted to do since I discovered the website. Unfortunately from what I gather it's open only to US residents.

I looked for some alternatives and whilst 8BitFunding.com looked ideal, it just doesn't appear to have a massive following at the moment and kind of needs to catch up with other similar sites.

I eventually came to a site called IndieGoGo.com which looks ideal and you get to keep the funds (minus fees, of course) you raise even if you don't reach your target; which I believe is different from Kickstarter, where you have to first reach your goal.

So I posted up a project called 'Echo Island' that I'm chipping away at to test the water with how the gaming community feels about funding these kind of things. I know pixeljam got a nice project going so I'm hoping to also manage to support the game's development through this method, rather than traditional sponsorship. It would offer a lot more freedom I feel.

I'll keep you updated if you find it interesting at all and hopefuly, with a bit of luck, it might inspire others to do the same (providing it works out of course!)

Here's the link to my project: Echo Island on IndieGoGo - of course, feel free to share the link around :D

Wasn't sure where to post this but wanted to share the journey and will update as things happen.

Thanks
Chaz

Thanks alot for the feedback mikewest, that's actually a very good suggestion and I'll bare it in mind for future games; it seems to make good sense and would maybe add to the longevity of the game.

Thanks for the feedback yajo and GDB!

And thanks Tom, if you use Tequila Time (space bar) that slows down time and should help you be able to hit the border guards and avoid their shots a bit more easily. With regards to the Relaunch button, this was actually changed from how we originally had it due to sponsor request...d'oh!

Haha, thanks eigenbom. That was a touch the programmer put in so I was shocked myself when I saw it for the first time!

Thanks for the feedback pixhead Smiley

I've just release a new game with ReconditeArcher. It's called Over The Border and can be played here:

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/559229

You need to fire your Bandito over the American border for whatever reason you choose, using various food shooting weapons and encountering different objects.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions? What do you like/don't like? etc. etc.
