Elwood this is oozing with potential!
I could see this becoming a mixture between pac-man and a rogue-like game.
It'd be more interesting to see longer fights between the player and enemy, kind of like a couple hits depending on what class you are. Doesnt have to be animated, I'd be happy just to see the sprites bounce off each other.

Instead of getting faster perhaps you could have a shop between levels where the players gets to spend their gold on items of their choice like health potions, armor and weapon upgrades.
You could have treasure chests appear with random items inside them instead of Cherries and stuff.
You could have like different types of potions that alter the character somehow.
Like invisibility, invincibility, haste, health, strength up ect...

Would be neat to see some ranged based enemies that shoot a projectile towards you in later levels.
May also be neat if the Archer had some kind of arrows he could shoot in the direction he's going.
The Necromancer could have a little skeleton follow him around like a tail or extra hit.


Could make it some kind of labyrinth that the player is trying to get through to slay some kind of monster boss thing.
You already said this.

Anyways hope to see more from this don't let the hater get you down.
I'd even offer you some free graphics if I weren't so busy.

Hasn't been too much to update you all on.
Fixed a few bugs in some of the enemies behaviours, trying to get everything that is already made to work with no problems.

In the mean time, decided to post some more inspirational works.
Here is a small collection of no-face/mask creatures.

The game is currently very dark graphically, I feel I need to bring a lot more colour into the aesthetic and make the darkness really pop out against the colour.
Beksinski will likely be the number one influence in this portion.

Ah yes, licenses, the mark of a true pirate broadcaster.
It's only like $40, who cares if your officially pirate radio or not, they give you a pre-assembled radio transmitter built into a suitcase.

Otherwise your stuck creating your own transmitter from scratch.

Last year I went to a pretty gnarly party sponsored by redbull where some guys pushed around a transmitter in a shopping cart, and we had a huge street party with 100s of boomboxes tuned into the mobile radio station which only broadcasted a few hundred feet.
Was a good time.

My understanding is that the FCC will find you and shut you down within a month of operation unless you're almost prohibitively cautious (changing locations and such), or you're only broadcasting to like, your next door neighbor.

While not as romanticized, just doing an internet radio station is easier and less likely to result in a dude kicking your door down with fines.
Actually the Canadian Broadcast Association has a radio station in a suitcase which you can purchase a cheap license for and you can legally be a small radio station.

Random tidbit; it's illegal to output only 0 signals on the radio.
You're allowed dead air on your station, but your not supposed to actually put out silence.
Not like they can really enforce the rule but it's supposedly a rule of the radio.

Here's a new youtube video, shows the door object I'm trying to work on.
Basically the door is just an object that disappears when you touch it and re-appears when you get off of it as long as there are no enemies on top of the tile.

Yea I've got to work on a wave system to give the player a bit of building time.
It's fun to have to build on the go, but you can't always build when enemies are covering up an area.

Thanks! I'm trying to keep it super simple, but I do have an idea to allow upgrading of the players weapon and build items.

I was considering going down in size, but I didn't like it when I did.
I find 32x32 to be easier to manage, smaller blocks would just let the player create layers of walls around his base.
You already can't build if an enemy is in the tile so that makes it hard to place blocks on the go.

You can also right-click to salvage tiles for like 25% of their value.
I've now made it so the room is infinite, you can move anywhere now.

Back when I was 16 I worked at mcdonalds and one of my e's fell off the name tag.
My name was Der k for a while, an old lady complemented me and said Derk was a lovely name.

You've peeked my interest.
I like the style, it's got a unique feel to it.
The skulls stand out a bit because they don't have black outlines but the character don't either so that's fine.

Is that a sword arm on the main character?
If so, I approve.

Hope to see some videos of gameplay and see how it looks in motion.
Will you be adding a background or will it be on a white void type background?

Sorry for the terrible quality video but I'm working on some boulders.
They wont always fall from the sky I'm just testing collisions, noticing a few errors grenades need to get pushed by the falling boulder instead of keep the rock floating in the air.

Thanks Franklin took myself a little bit to get the animation to look right.

Today's Update
Added randomly generated 32x32 boulders to the terrain that can fall and crush you if you are underneath them.

Working on some more boss action ideas and getting them working in-game.
Designing a couple levels for early tutorial type levels that show the basics.

Made the shooting have some recoil instead of shooting in a straight line all the time.
