By the way, I don't know if you fixed it yet or not as i've been unable to update for a while, but sometimes if the iphone is busy the timestep becomes massive and the character goes off to la la land and ends up in a wall or dead in lava - maybe limit the timestep or something so this doesn't happen?

You should do this for GAMMA 4 - make the input system Boolean as well.

the direction you want is given by trigonometry. use atan2, which is usually present in whatever maths library you're using.
