there's nothing wrong with it per se, but it's a deficiency. it's a flaw in a person when they can't enjoy something they do for fun. it's not just some magical arbitrary thing whether you enjoy something or not, you have control over it to a degree, how you approach something affects how much you'll enjoy it. enjoying games is a skill that can be developed, it's not something that just happens
I've never gotten the whole "acquired taste" thing anyways. If you are doing something primarily for enjoyment, why would you want to retrain yourself to enjoy something you don't like? But beyond that, I flat-out disagree. I played quite a bit of that game, and even after I wasn't enjoying it, I pushed it to see if maybe I'd learn something or something would click. When it didn't, I moved on. No harm to the people who do enjoy the game. If I had to review it, I don't think I would give it a damning review. But I didn't enjoy it and I have a ton of other free and paid games to play so I moved on. I'm quite certain that more time spent would have made me like it more, as I understood all the play mechanics and wasn't particularly bad at the game (I have disliked games because I didn't know how to play them before, not the same thing). Also, I'd like to point out that I approached Iji expecting to love it (I actually like Flashback and I like actioney platformers, so I assumed I'd like the mix), and even in the early, less-actioney parts I was looking forward to those upcoming big battle bits. Certain people don't enjoy certain things, and they don't owe it to anyone to enjoy those things.

No, no you aren't. There's nothing wrong with that. People like different things.

far worse than complex semantic arguments are people who blame the game when they didn't enjoy it rather than blaming themselves for not enjoying a game
Yes, I'm clearly deficient in not enjoying something you liked.

This is sophistry. Obviously I can't speak for people who enjoyed the game.
but that didn't stop you from doing so No, I didn't. Honestly, not everything needs to be a complex semantic argument.

but even if you said 'in my opinion' it'd still be wrong, because they still mixed well for others regardless -- you're entitled to your own opinions, just not your own facts

well, they mixed well for the game's numerous fans, just not for you in particular
This from the guy told me I didn't need to mark my opinions with a loud tag that say they are my opinions.

God damn I hated Iji.
High-action gunfights and Flashback-style gameplay don't mix well.

Let me tell you about the Iranian I met when I was young.

Wow! I'd not seen those before. Amazing. Is there a companion piece of "The Guys Of Gaming" too? Still, I guess it's not drastically different from erotic art collectors. No harm no foul I'm actually a huge fan of several pinup artists, so yeah, I guess I shouldn't judge.

I guess I don't share your faith that the male attraction to the female body is primarily a cultural phenomenon.
Nor do I, but I don't share your concern that it's a bad thing or that somehow unrealistic images of women have anything to do with nudity.

Someone is severely underestimating the threats posed by black holes! Has anyone actually got the horn over a videogame representation of a woman? The closest I got was a shuffle over the Barbarian poster when I was a wee and desperate teenager. I prefer my ladies fleshy not pixelly y'know. Direct2Drive sells those "girls of gaming" PDF books to somebody!

And what if the media showed them all the time? Eventually, people wouldn't care as much
No, I agree with him on that. I've lived in Japan. People still care.

I'm not saying that an occasional sexy lady makes men go crazy. But if we give the media permission to show sexy naked ladies, they will do it all the time.
Probably. Not seeing an issue here. There are plenty of countries where women have crappy self-images and get cosmetic surgery and it has nothing to do with naked ladies (or at least not the trends set by them, specifically).

Sure, but most of those women are not the hyper-sexualized women that we inevitably end up with in video games.
Yes, but presumably some of them are very attractive (if they may get bad teeth and saggy boobs maybe earlier than ones here) and others aren't and so on.

This sounds ridiculous to me. Maybe if we didn't make nipples so forbidden, then seeing one wouldn't make people go insane from repression. Seeing a part of the human body shouldn't affect your ability to function, let alone result in addiction.
There are entire societies of people who have women going topless all the time or are in general nearly nude who seem to be able to control themselves, as well.

Some forums have an ignore function which does exactly the same thing.
I've found it useful at super massive forums, but man it sucks to "need" such a thing in a small community.

Why is America so afraid of sex and so accepting of violence?
We were founded by Puritans and still have many religious groups who are pro-violence and anti-sex.
