501  Player / Games / Re: Braid: the stars: the meaning behind them: the forum thread on: April 10, 2011, 09:44:02 PM
sorry braid discussing guy, people dont care here unless its an opportunity to tell a new kid to post in an obligatory introductory thread that no one actually reads

Ah, sorry to hear that.

Admittedly, this is more of a "game design" than a "game playing" topic, perhaps I put this in the wrong forum?

There is a "Design" subforum, but I think this is probably the appropriate forum for this topic.

EDIT: Sorry for being an asshat.  Guess that was just my anti-Blow half talking.

His lecture was interesting, to say the least.  He definitely gave some good insights on things I hadn't even thought about before, like that cloud at the end.

Do it!  I'd love to see an interesting non-Japanese visual novel every now and again.  Two things I'd recommend you do:
a) Don't use a premade visual novel software to create it.  Creating a GN engine from the ground up has some massive benefits.
b) Write everything up in Dutch, and get a quality translator to make sure everything you wrote retains its original meaning if you decide to release it to an American/UK audience too.  Even if you feel fairly confident with your English, it's great to have an expert on board.

Yeah, says here he just uses anime as inspiration.

This is more retarded MSPaint BS but w/e. Also imageshack appears to have compressed it.

Quoting this because I don't think to many people really paid that much mind to it after it was paged.

I mean, it wouldn't have been quite as weird if it didn't talk about how he was getting hard all the time.
510  Player / Games / Re: Don't Take it Personally, Babe, it Just Ain't Your Story on: April 09, 2011, 01:34:42 PM
It's a Canadian game, actually.

Poor Canadians.
Oh, Canada.
511  Player / Games / Re: Don't Take it Personally, Babe, it Just Ain't Your Story on: April 09, 2011, 12:48:46 PM
Whoa, it seems that part of the story slipped to me for some reason, thanks for tips up. What a bunch of assholes those guys are. (maybe it was his conscience, but they started the prank in the first place) WTF

Yeah, it was back with that whole bit where Akira and his mom are talking to you.  Yeah, I'd flip a bitch if my friends pulled that kind of thing on me.

Also, I don't know about you, but I found the whole John-Arianna love story a little bit "lolJapan" worthy.

EDIT: Yes, I know, it's an American game.
EDIT2: Welp, Canadian, sorry.

Also if Isabella was alive all along, what was the point of the ghost?
Apparently, the shinigami was actually just some friend that they'd put up to it or something (or maybe not, I dunno), but the messages came from Akira.  If note, it was probably his conscience bugging him.
513  Player / Games / Re: Don't Take it Personally, Babe, it Just Ain't Your Story on: April 09, 2011, 12:10:18 PM
Loved everything leading up to the ending, but the ending itself was pretty shit.

IMO, Isabella should've stayed dead.  Akira's mom's lecture on privacy was very much unneeded.  I feel like the themes she explained should've been demonstrated by the game already.  I would've preferred a good bittersweet ending to the sunshiney happy one I got.  To me, then ending just sorta ruined the already powerful story that had been building up.  There just wasn't any sort of climax, and I really didn't like that.

Quite gorgeous, Mesh!
515  Player / General / Re: Some indie films, should not exist at all on: April 08, 2011, 04:50:58 PM
I really don't think they made The Room bad intentionally.  It's bad in the kind of way that would be hard to do intentionally.  I think Tommy Wisseau made a bad movie and then tried to play it off as if he made it bad intentionally.
This.  He's extremely full of himself.  He looks at the movie as some sort of proof of his genius.

The Room is proof that indie films can be moving and artistically beautiful.

Bumping because I still have hope.

Maybe it's false hope, but it's still hope.

Oh, who am I kidding. Cry

That colored light is the kind of stuff that is really moving the tech of games forwards in leaps and bounds.

You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!

Official messages from Omegle will not be sent with the label 'Stranger:'. Strangers claiming to represent Omegle are lying.

You: Hey stranger!
You: How's it gokfjasdfkjsdlhflkjsdhf
You: Oh
You: Oh God
Stranger: hm?
You: Well, it looks like...
You: Looks like there's a giant wooden spike driven through my leg
You: This isn't good.
Stranger: oh no.
You: Hmm, that blood probably shouldn't be coming out that fast.
Stranger: that surely isnt
You: So, anyways, how are you today, stranger?
Stranger: i fine! you?...
You: Doing just fine, thksdahjfdaslk
Stranger: funny
You: Sorry, spasms from the searing pain.
Stranger: oh thats fine, take your time
You: Weather alright out where you are?
Stranger: yes, its cold though
You: I know, winter time.
Stranger: yea
You: Pretty warm out here, but maybe that's just because of the intense burning in my calf.
Stranger: wow
Stranger: who done it?
You: But enough about me, I think the whole point of this is to get to know a little bit about the opposite partner?
You: I don't know, but my seeping bodily fluids can wait.
Stranger: oh, okay. thanks for your tome!
Stranger: time... not tome
Stranger: sorry
You: Not a problem.
You: I'll give you whatever's left of it.
Stranger: okay! im glad to be the last person to ever talk to!
You: Probably should've called the ambulance a while ago, but my social health is far more important than my physical health.
You: So, back to conversing about stuff, you a USA fella, too?
Stranger: yea
Stranger: so?
Stranger: are you in the war?
You: Nope, just a kitchen accident.
Stranger: oh, that's fine then
You: I really should clean the wound before it becomes infected, though. But yeah, USA's a wonderful country.
Stranger: yea! it is!
You: Which area are you from? South? North? New England?
Stranger: take your time with cleaning your "wound".
Stranger: charlotte NC
You: Hoho. East Coast gets pretty chilly around this time.
You: Almost as chilly as my leg's beginning to get from the numbness brought about by pain.
Stranger: speaking of hoho, its almost christmas time EEEEEEEE!^ . ^
You: Very excited about that! If I make it through today, I'm probably gonna pick up my tree this week.
Stranger: awesome! i should give you some time to call an ambulance though, if its no trouble, of course
You: No trouble at all!
You: And I think I'll wait a little on that
Stranger: alright. thats fine
You: I'm having a very pleasant time conversing with ya, and my dog's already taking care of that blood stain on the carpet.
Stranger: oh, good! i love dogs
You: But if you insist, hopefully I can find you around the internet soon!
Stranger: oh, cool!
You: Later, Stranger, been a pleasure talking to you. I'm going to go see if I can salvage my health now. Catch you around!
Stranger: okay! bye!

Your conversational partner has disconnected.
