Hey, I never come by here anymore, but I popped in for something and what did I see... My ninja running around and kicking butt! The game is frikkn' impossible, but I can't tell you how cool it is to see the ninja tossing stars, spilling his guts, and disappearing is puffs of smoke. Thanks for that.

BTW, I ran it in Wine on a Ubuntu machine; seemed to work fine. The only problem was the screen didn't center.

Chow!

I'm excited to see where this goes.

OK, both a crouch and a wall/roof cling. And with 'hiding' animations, too.

Probably gonna leave it at this for now, unless someone really needs something else.

Slowly, slowly.

Thank you CCPC Speaker, I agree. I'll have to add another one.
It's nice to see it animated.

Thanks for comments guys. I'll take a look at the death animation again sometime.

Here are a few other updates. The throw animation is now generic, plus there is now a ninja star to toss. Also, a smoke cloud for making quick get-aways.

-----------------ORIGINAL POST------------------------

Long time since I've been here.

Kinda joining in late, but here is a quick sheet for a 16 x 16 ninja. He/she can stand, walk, jump, cover his/her face (to hide in the dark), throw something (use you imagination) at his own feet, and die.

Here is the sheet x4.

I'll try to put together some other stuff that matches. We'll see. I don't know if I'll do anything with these for the next part, but regardless, anyone else please feel free (that's the point of this, right?)

Cycling and fencing are always good. Maybe they can be combined?

Sad Sorry, guys.

Real Life has been a little hectic around here this month, so this is gonna be a no go. Not so much too little time as too little gumption.

That being said, I got a lot further with the technical stuff than I thought I would. It gives me heart to try a new project... So we'll see.

Okay, hope everyone else is having better luck than me. (It certainly looks that they are when I browse the threads! Awesome stuff going on.)

Ta-ta!

Since the forums are up, I thought I'd leave a note here.

Slow progress so far, and nothing to see screen shot wise. However, I now have working stairs, multiple levels of maze which can be progressed through forwards and backwards at will, and it all works with the auto map. What you have explored is carried with you, so if you nip down to the 3rd level without scouring the 2nd, when you come up again it'll still be dark and unknown.

Well, back to work!

I appreciate everyone stopping by to comment.

I'm certainly not going to stop now, but it is cool to learn about all the different textual Pac-Man games out there. I like the link you provided aparrish.

chutup, your suggestion is more along the lines I hope to take this, but we'll have to see how far I get. This certainly won't be just a turn based version of the arcade game with no graphics. (Then everyone would know what to expect!)

Wouldn't the spy just change colour to match the enemy team?

Maybe I'm bonkers?

Been working away at it.

Even got an auto-map working. And I expanded the level size so that I can recreate the original pac-man level. Still gotta add screen warping though (gonna think over if I want to).

This is gonna be made by the details, so lots still to do.
