What I like: You seem genuine, 5000 isn't a lot assuming the licensing and all that shizz is taken care of. The game actually looks good, but...

It doesn't seem new.

See, I'm in love with pixel based games, and I'm confident this has a chance (as long as you don't over-complicate it with nit-picky statistics and the like) at making it big. However, there just doesn't seem to be a hook.

Okay, it's a midieval RPG defense game... What else?

Maybe you can wow us with some samples of clever class design (so far you have Rogue, Warrior, Berserker, the basics) or enemy design. Perhaps you have a wonderful story you want to share. Perhaps this is a roguelike RPG game with infinite levels (if not, don't do infinite levels or you'll get the "easy and infinite game" phenomena.)

But you need a draw. A catch. A "this is different."

I love pixel art, and I'd love to play this game, but for the rest of us: there needs something a bit different to warrant a contribution. (I'll donate as soon as I've got some spare cash on me, before your draw ends.)

Also, your $150 reward says there are 10 spots when you left 25 slots open.

Also, you might want to change the intensity of your rewards - $400 for a custom unit in a low level (no offense) game is a bit too much. In fact, 150 is too. Those would be rewards for some sort of massive super-project, an Ouya cost $99 in comparison.

Edit: Sorry, wrong thread! (It happens to everyone eventually.)

It's in AS2 :/

IMO, this would be a solid, simple iOS game. It's pretty easy to port it using Adobe's Flash IDE.

It's done in AS2 :c

It's actually not tied to how many times you use it, but what your level is as well as your current hp (higher hp means higher costs) :d

Hey Pandara, already sent you an email about this a few days ago, but could you re-test my game if you've got time? It's now completed, and I really want a final opinion so I can do that last bit of polish before I release it Tongue

I remember this game! Wow, amazing to see it's alive, like my past is coming to say hello.

This was during the GameMaker online game boom around 2006, right? Anyways, I'm very curious to see where this game's gone.

Are you still adopting the design philosophy of no chat outside those chat rooms?

Hey, I have a game you could possibly test, though it isn't completely finished, I'm in the middle of balancing and fixing up the difficulty.

It's an RPG if you're interested.

I test everything super hardcore, just drop me a link =]

Yessir, it can easily be found at: http://www.tinyurl.com/dungeonexplore

My personal preference is that if there's communication, we do it through email, and that's simply because that's what I'm most often going to check. However, I'm open for anything.

My email is: [email protected]

It has been a while, and a LOT has changed. Refer to the original post which I've edited to reflect the many changes to the game since this post was last visited.

Needless to say, there's a lot.

I still strongly desire feedback, mostly in the order of enjoyment factor, difficulty comments, balance issues, and general concerns/suggestions.

Actions speak better then words, I suppose.

Textcrawl's been bothering me as a name.
If you remember, it's the game which is pretty much a roguelike text-adventure type game with the key being its simpler systems, it's essentially a genre at its core.

In the end, however, I feel like TextCrawl fails to represent that... It just sounds... off... Like you can't put it on a box and expect people to like it.

Any suggestions?

You are an animal. And you do things animals wouldn't normally do. And we give them some sort of clothing, like shoes, for instance. And they defeat some sort of big evil dark darkness.

Sounds like every platformer ever.

Anyways:

You're a tiny alien in a giant world. Your objective is to get to multiple points of interest (a book, USB, a plant sample, etc.) in giant settings (a house, street, etc.) which ARE populated by humans. Thus, you have to avoid detection and gather information so you can lead the invasion/whatever you want to do with Earth.

Mind wiping for extra points.

I really don't know how to make it more simple then "The hp that's always there vs. the hp that's right next to the monster."

:/

Anyways, here's a monk update! Also, infirmaries!

more importantly than expanding the possibilities is to ensure that different options are fairly balanced. You've already spotted that you need to farm for dexterity to compete in the late game so that's a good start. What you may find if you don't keep an eye on the fine balance between decisions is that you end up creating a lot of content that is never used by the player thus wasting time that could be better spent on other features.

I am trying currently to make it easier to level stats then just the automatic +2 you get for standard level-ups. For the record, a Dungeon Wanderer (level 6) has around 30 armor, while a Gridbug (level 3) has 12. I'm trying to account for the fact that there are larger gaps between later levels.
