Hello TIGers!

My name is Sam and I’m a ‘Design for Games’ student at the Plymouth College of Art, England. I am in my third and final year of the course currently working on my final major.Considering I started the course with nothing but a passion for games and a child like sense of wonder, the course and more particularly the people I’ve met have really helped me to develop my skill and general knowledge within Game Design.

I cant really remember the first game I ever played (not by name anyway, was a space man platformer kinda thing) but out of all the games I tried as a kid, a couple that particularly stood out for me were ‘Little Big Adventure 2’ (Some of my favourite music from a game) and ‘Descent: Free Space’ (where are all the space flight sim’s nowadays!) on my dads crappy little PC.

The project I’m currently working on is ‘Sakena!’ a 1st person, explorative, non combat game set in a jungle environment through the vision of a young South American tribesman. The environment will consist of jungle and Mayan architecture intertwined with the surreal nature of the vision. The game will hopefully showcase my environment design as well as all of the areas of production I’m working on. Will be posting more on this in the near future.

Here’s a link to an animation I did last year about a creepy looking robot up to no good.

I’m fairly new to all this blogging malarkey and am normally just a silent viewer rather than an active participant but I’m going to make a real effort to get engaged and involved simply because the community here is one of the best places where the medium I love, can thrive. Only a fool would miss out on that!
