http://www.canvasdemos.com/ have some tutorials on making games.

Gave it a try awhile ago but really didn't like working in javascript.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQVTIJBZook a presentation about javascript and things you should keep in mind when working with it. Might be helpful.

53  Developer / Technical / Re: Where to start with procedurally generated terrain? on: October 10, 2011, 01:57:58 AM
Roguebasin ( http://roguebasin.roguelikedevelopment.org ) have some articles about generating terrain. The Procedural Content Generation Wiki ( http://pcg.wikidot.com ) have plenty of articles and links so check them out too.

Also check the procedural generation thread on this forum that st33d linked. Plenty o' good stuff there.

55  Developer / Technical / Re: Best uses for XML on: July 29, 2011, 06:00:29 AM
I usually use XML for storing away stats for players, enemies etc. At least when I work with someone else, saves time from having to explain where the variables are in the code.

Well if you really just want to do rpg games then get Rpg Maker VX or some other version of it.

I have to agree with what most people have said here. Start simple and make small games and release them to the community and learn from the feedback.
