That would be a pretty good match.
Also, what makes Soratorobo a furry RPG? Anthropomorphic animals? Does that make Starfox a furry shooter?

It does a good job of making the roguelike, a notoriously niche genre, more accessible to more people, as well as putting a nice coat of paint - some might consider that this detracts from the spirit of true rogue-likes, but some people value a good presentation to mystical notions of what a particular game genre should or shouldn't do. If you're a hardcore gamer and rogue-like fan it might not be the game for you, but not everyone is a hardcore gamer.

The EXACT art style would be up to the artist themselves, but the general idea is: Something unique, somewhat pixelated but clean, with the perspective and feel of a super nintendo era role-playing game. A good example would be if you were to combine the general idea of Super Meat Boy's visuals with the feel of Final Fantasy IV. (I would create an example myself, but I am THE worst artist you could ever meet)
Find some screenshots that illustrate what you are looking for, and link them (or maybe even copy/cut/paste a mockup)

Do I get a discount for being cool?
How about we get a donation pool to get Paul Eres out here?
I sent him the link to this thread on Steam and asked:
M!$ΛN̥̙̹̩͖͢T̶̤H̱RØPE: would you come? rinkuhero: dunno rinkuhero: maybe
I approve this message. Any idea on how much it would take to make this happen?

I'm excited and looking forward to seeing Captain America and the new The Thing remake (I saw the John Carpenter version back when I was a kid, and it was effing amazing).

Just finished Dance with Dragons, picked up Altered Carbon, and it's pretty good so far. I'll likely pick up Good Omens and American Gods after I finish Altered Carbon.

Tron + Canabalt
A two-player co-op game on a top/bottom splitscreen where the player on the bottom is a tron-like light cycle that flies through the air leaving a solid trail by pressing a button. Doing so depletes a meter that slowly increases with time or when the player collects a power-up or other such mechanic.
Approximately 3 seconds after the player on the bottom screen starts moving, the player on the top screen starts playing, their goal being to not fall into holes and obstacles. Hopefully the first player has laid out their trail in such a way that the second player's task is easier.

I thought the teleporting arrow only came into play in the last 'world'/level/set of levels, though.

Been working on this on and off in between binge-reading Song of Ice and Fire, but now that I've finished the book I can get back into this. Pretty much done with the water, I think. I'm still not 100% happy with the banks.

Let's start here: Can you name a single Indie RPG that's 18-24 hours? If you can name such a game, was it any good? If it was good, how many people did it take to make? How much time did it take them to make? If you still don't get where I'm going with this line of questioning, I'll spell it out: It's extremely difficult to produce such a game with the resources you are outlining, let alone a first time dev team. It's possible with enough time, experience and qualified people, but you will not get experience without first making other games, and you will not get qualified people unless you are experienced. Time is a whole other problem in itself.
Not to start an argument or anything, but Breath of Death VIII and Cthulhu Saves the World both fit into the description above, and the updated-versions bundle on Steam appear to be doing pretty well

"Designer/Programmer" is somewhat vague. Can you describe the tasks this Designer/Programmer would be in charge of? What kind of project length are you looking at? Is the game going to be a shortish indie project (6-10 hours to play through) or are you thinking of something longer.
A little more information might spark a little more interest in the project.

@Theophilus: Sounds like a good idea, the shadows should have some effect on the surface patterns.
@green: True! I also like the steps you put on the banks of the canal, they do a nice job of breaking the flatness. I was trying to come up with something to do just that, but figured a stone tile pattern would have to do.
Working on applying both pieces of feedback.
