did you get that error on startup or during gameplay? If it was on startup (sorry to ask this) but did you unzip the file first? If it was during gameplay, can you describe what was happening when it came up? MAV's are the engine's generic, unhelpful way of saying something is missing, be it an actual file or an entity in the world.

Yeah, I didn't take it out of the zip file (bad habit, I know).

Just tried this by myself, since I don't have anyone to play it with at home, and it looks really promising! For a moment I was wondering about the mouseshroom player's gameplay, then I read the instructions (might want to copy those into the first post in the thread) and it made a little more sense. Finally managed to figure it out by ignoring kaya for a while and focusing on the mushroom gameplay.

Definitely interesting, giving each player ancillary goals as you suggest might be an idea.

Might be a little late to suggest this, but after seeing that background picture I was thinking that it could be cool if the image was 'flatter' (seen more from the side) with the props being cardboard cut-outs (it is a stage after all, it would seem to fit the theme and the way you are animating the characters).

Kinda like this, but more fitting the art-style you have in mind for the setting:

This sounsd like a really cool idea! Looking forward to see where you take it. A few questions/thoughts:

Will you be using some form of rock-paper-scissors strategy where certain car weapons deal more or less damage to certain other car weapons? How many different types of train cars are you aiming for? Are you going to allow players to do anything during the 'fight' phases, or are those specifically set aside for players to observe the carnage, the opponent, and formulate new strategies for when the car pulls in again?

If the set of cars you are getting each round is completely random, are you going under the assumption that players will sometimes get screwed over by the RNG? Perhaps while the trains are fighting players can scrap cars they don't want in order to somehow affect the random ones they get when the train pulls in again? Or maybe you can try combining some of the cars you get to make new/different cars?

(Now I have this image in my head of the cars you get each round being represented by cards with a pic and stats on them, and you drag and drop them onto the train cars you want to replace).

Something silly I was fiddling around with a while back, a PC98-style dating simulator/post-apocalyptic fighting RPG... Pay close attention to the fearsome and invisible atomic zombie. Hm, maybe I should finish this.

Don't worry about it too much. Within any given group of creative people who hang out and exchange ideas there is bound to be some overlap. I've been wanting to make a game like this forever, yet never had the tech savvy to do it.
