I've found that the best way to post stuff from as3 to fb is via underlying app's page fb javascript sdk. like you have flash game embedded in html page that is your app on fb and then you execute facebook's javascript with ExternalInterface call. like, you would init fb app with ExternalInterface.call("FB.init"); and you'd have FB.init({ appId : 'xxxxxxxxxxx', status : true, // check login status cookie : true, // enable cookies to allow the server to access the session xfbml : true // parse XFBML }); in html of your app. This is the quickes and easiest way. Once you figure it out it all becomes walk in a park. I'm planning on writting a tutorial on the subject in next few days.

yes, emanuee has been very helpful so far, i've learned a lot from his tuts, but the thing is that these are quite old and much of the code there is deprecated :/ also, facebook has this thingy of "improving" stuff all over the place and all the time and stuff that worked yesterday fails miserably today, so 2009 articles sometimes even make things harder to understand. for instance, this article explains a bit about wall posting from flash app, which would be awesome for me at the time, but there are some functions that don't exist anymore :/ well it's a start i guess, but even if look at this and use similar functions in existing sdk i don't seem to make any progress. i guess i'll have to really dig into and discover things as i go.

So I've been working on a simple shoot-em-up game, which would eventually turn out as a facebook game. i've found this: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/facebook.html which seems pretty interesting idea, but i'm walking in dark here. i don't seem to figure out how to do even simplest things, like reading the current fb user session status (logged in, his id, etc.). so i'm wondering if anyone here worked on some fb flash (as3) apps/games or anyone knows some decent tutorial that would cover some basics? i'd be happy if i could learn how to read users login status, maybe retrieve his friends in array of some form, post wall posts, for starters. cheers

and where would that be?
as far as i see it, you're making a clone of a very successful game that's still in development and already looks and feels x times better than your current build (no offense) and has xyxy players playing and paying for it. i don't really see this going anywhere, unless you take a twist in some totally different direction and move away from minecraft "premise".
i mean if i had to playtest/play minecraft clone (which is now way behind the original game) i wouldnt, i'd just go and enjoy minecraft.
if you catch my drift..
no hard feelings, i'm just bothered with "I wanted to make a game and actually take it somewhere" line.
