Cabin in the woods: It's not the cinematic masterpiece that some internet critics made it out to be, but still a pretty good movie. Slasher movies and META/4th-wall-breaking movies are two of the genres that I hate the most, but this movie managed to do both very tastefully. Everything falls neatly into place and it didn't treat me like an idiot. Recommended.
man, even then, the whole movie was too stupid for me. the subplot was kinda nice, but the way the whole thing developed according to tropes instead of truly subverting them just ruined the movie for me. and it still played off gross exploitation with a straight face. Watched it. I feel the movie tried to be smart without bieng so that much. It had its clever moments, but overall it felt a bit too cheesy. i couldn't enjoy it since they wanted to stay true to the crappiness of the horror movies that they were spoofing. the twists were all it had going for and i just didn't care.

not just that but also a lot of new pokemon have unclear concepts (or busy designs). i mean there are bad ones in the original 151 too... like jinx.

the newer designs stop resembling animals or insects and have unclear concepts.
