This qualifies as pixel art right? I mean, he did place the pixels individually as far as I know.
Technically, it's not: the image has 2242 colors, which indicates that the palette is not controlled in any way by the artist. Unless your artist has some godly level of antialiasing, I doubt this could be called pixel art. Not trying to call you out or anything, just attempting to educate.
Ah I see. That makes sense. Should I take it down?

Edit: It wasn't pixel art apparently, so I took it down.

Devlog Update #29 - 02/08/14

The artist finished our title art! I really like it. What do you guys think?

This looks awesome. It's also really neat that you got permission to do it as an official remake.

Ah I see what you mean about the planet now. That makes sense. I can see how it would annoy some people.

That gif looks awesome! I have a couple of thoughts: the space dust should be less homogeneous, and i don't think the planet works (perspective-wise) and is a little distracting anyway. Looking forward to the release. Smiley
I actually disagree on both those points. I love when space games have the dust look like that. Makes you feel like you're in some sort of nebula. Probably unrealistic but I like that look. I know what you mean about the planet's perspective but if you think about it you can't really have the wrong perspective. It's space. Anything can be in any orientation.

Level editors are cool, but only if you have a built-in system for uploading and downloading user-made levels. Or if its on steam it could be part of the workshop.

Because there are no such thing as file lockers? If game becomes popular (and having level editor gives bonus to popularity), someone will make site that indexes user-made level, like SMWCentral is for SMW hacks.

When a game has a built-in system for it, the custom levels tend to much more used. Sorry, I wasn't trying to say he shouldn't add a level editor if he doesn't add the other part, but I am saying the two just go together so much better than level editor alone.

Princess Mononoke is definitely my favorite Miyazaki film. I liked Nausicaa though. I still have never seen Spirited Away.

I finally made an IndieDB page and it was authorized just now! Not sure how we're at 1,377 out of 14,563 in popularity since it just barely authorized...

EDIT: Now it's at 1,007... Is this normal? EDIT 2: Nevermind, I think I understand the whole popularity meter thing now. I'm guessing it goes off the day's views only, because I'm rank 140 now apparently.

Is the trailer going to have any gameplay footage? Looking forward to seeing how it plays.

The first trailer will be a teaser trailer, but will contain a quick montage of a few gameplay elements. The longer trailer we make much later down the line will have much more gameplay. However, around the time the teaser comes out I'll be trying to show you guys more screenshots and gameplay gifs (of which I have none so far).

As for art, we really have had a good amount of art that we could show, but its art that's not complete. [snip]

I for one would love to see your WIP graphics :-)
Thanks! Well, I said that back with my previous artist. My new artist works insanely fast so any art I show you will be finished simply because there is no "WIP" art. Tomorrow, I'll be posting an update with a new sprite animation. I don't want to post new art too often, because when he starts work on level backgrounds (which will take him 2 weeks each most likely) I'll have nothing to show for those two weeks. So I'd rather save some stuff for those rainy days.

Thanks for posting guys! I feel like this thread needs more discussion. Tongue

You should just name the game "Rocket Propelled Chainsaws" cause that sounds awesome.

So apparently, someone has made a mod for Civilization 5 that adds a map of Arstotzka. That's when you know you're game has made it.

what does tigs think of hte tagline

"A contemplation on balance told across two worlds".

It sounds nice, but doesn't make all that much sense. It says "told" but that sounds like off wording when you're talking about contemplation. You don't tell contemplation. I'd also think the word 'of' would be better than 'on' in this case. What about, "The contemplation of balance across two worlds."

^ You went through all of the storylines?

Not sure. I'll check a walk-through later I suppose. I hit many.

There's more endings than you'd expect, but even after I did every last one of them it still felt pretty short. Though I suppose the point wasn't to be a long game.
