Here's my entry :

Play and rate Tinysasters

Tinysasters on Kongregate (enhanced version)

This is a puzzle/simulation/gestion game where you have to develop despite natural disasters that happen every now and then and reconfigure the ground. The map is randomly generated.

This was my first LD participation, I'm glad I managed to finish the game Smiley

I'll post a post-mortem soon.

Thanks for your feedback Smiley

@ b__o : The troopers sprites were inspired by X-com sprites, but they were made from scratch.

Hello !

Mission in Space is now on Kongregate :

If you like the game, don't hesitate to rate it Smiley A good rating could help us promote Mission in Space.

Thanks again for all the great feedback !

Thanks for the great feedback Smiley

We've just published a new version of the game.

You can play it -> here <-

Here's what's different :
- We've added the last two missions (11 & 12) and the conclusion.
- We've added an option menu which allows you to control the volume of the sound and the music.
- There are now 3 save slots and you can choose the lieutenant's name.
- We've shortened mission 1 based on your feedback. It's much more dynamic than before.
- We've optimized the alien turn and the light management for better performance.
- and few other improvements...

Now we're going to focus on illustration, sound, and music.

Thanks for the feedback.

@ Spooner : I've just replayed mission 9 and the game didn't freeze for me. Do you remember which action might have triggered the bug or at which point of the mission it happened ? (at the end of your turn, after activating a lift, at the beginning of the alien turn, etc.) That kind of information would be very useful.

About the game user interface, we intend to improve it in the future. The end turn button will be more visible (in the up middle of the bar or something like that) and the skill buttons will be bigger. But maybe we'll do that when everything else is done.

We have considerably shortened mission 1 based on your feedback. There are no more turns when you only have to walk, and the mission is completed much more quickly. The changes aren't online yet, they'll be in the next version we'll publish. We've also removed some dialogs again.

Mission 1 is the only mission where the dialogs are not skippable. Tutorials are totally skippable from mission 2 for the players that feel they don't need to read them (or already have). We won't make the first missions skippable, because we feel that some of the game concepts need to be explained even to skilled players : for example, they can't guess what the alert state does. Besides, we like the idea of introducing the troopers one by one, so that the players get to know the specificities of each one progressively and aren't overwhelmed by an upgrade screen full of every trooper's skills the first time they see it.
As for mission 1, the events that take place in it are kinda part of the storyline, so we'd like every player to see it !

The highlight of hex that are walkable is already in the game. You just have to roll over the trooper.

For the skills that don't require a target but require the player to click on the trooper, that's a tough question. Few skills are concerned : Sprint and Woods' cries. For Sprint, yes, it could totally be launched immediately when you click the icon. But for Wood's cries, we think the player would like to have an idea which troopers are in the double bonus area. Maybe we could show it when you roll over the icon of the skill, I don't know...

Blake's shield program can seem useless at first, but it's a very important skill to have when there are explosive aliens in the mission, especially if you target a gold medal. Indeed, the shield program allows troopers to walk on the acid puddles laid by those aliens when they die without taking any damage. When you lose on mission 6 or further, you are likely to see a tip about it on the mission result screen.

We'll see how we can make the wall grates more visible.

Thank you all for the great feedback !

@ teletubo : Yes you can pick-up the clips without using the keyboard. There's an icon for that in the troopers' skill bar. You have to select the skill first by clicking the icon and then click on the ammo. We've slightly improved the tutoriel  on mission 3, we hope it's more intuitive that way.

As for the aliens, a different kind appears on mission 6, and another one on mission 9.

We've applied the corrections you indicated on the english version. Thanks ! We're still interested by more feedback on the translation Smiley

We've added a shortcut for "end turn" as some of you requested. It's [SPACE].

And now, when you roll over a trooper or an alien, you can see how far he can go, and, for an alien, how far he can go and be dangerous (red tiles).

And you can still play the game -> here <-   Smiley

Thanks for the feedback !

Indeed there was this ugly bug which prevented mission 1 from being completed.

The truth is, just before I posted here, I noticed a little bug and corrected it, and bam ! it made the game unplayable... Murphy's law and all.

It's corrected now, and you should be able to play the first mission entirely (and the others too I hope !). Sorry for the inconvenience. The tutorial was also simplified a little bit.

@bart_the_13th : No we don't use Haxe for the game. The name HxClasses is in reference to the hexagon tiles Smiley

[Update]

Mission in Space is now on Kongregate :

Thanks to all the testers !

[Original post]

Hello everyone Smiley

I'm here to introduce a flash game we're working on and intend to submit on FGL.

It's a turn-based tactical game. You control up to 5 troopers in a colony invaded by aliens.
We haven't picked up a name yet.

The game is now fully functional, the 12 missions are playable. But it only has a few sound effects, no music, no illustrations... That's what we are focusing on right now.

So we're looking for testers to help us improve the game and isolate the remaining bugs.

Here are a few questions we'd like to ask you :

1) Did you notice any bugs ?

2) What do you think about the translation ? English is not our native langage so we're not very confident about it... Do you think the game needs a whole new translation or a few corrections will do it ?

3) Did you find something annoying or frustrating in the game ?

4) What do you think about the difficulty ?

5) Is the tutorial thourough enough or does it lack information you would have liked to have ?

6) General comments / suggestions ?

Here are some screens :

Thanks !  Smiley

Hello everyone !

I've been lurking here for a while now, finally got registered.

I'm Isabelle, I live in France. I'm a developper, up to 2010 I had been doing web development as a freelancer, mostly in e-commerce. Since then, I had the opportunity to work on several browser / social games.

This year, I'm working on a first flash game and it's much more fun for me Smiley Looks more than the videogames I played as a kid.
