I think Stanley Parable and The Walking Dead are perhaps the two best examples of the uniqueness of games as a media.
So many games these days are trying to 'prove themselves' to Hollywood, like it's a pissing contest. (eg. 'The Last of Us')
These games however do all the things that a movie or book can NEVER do. They really show the true capability and potential of interactivity

I "finished" the Stanley Parable. Loved it. From now on, I will vouch for all games to have an adventure line mode.
I laughed so hard at the baby game. The entire "Minecraft ending" was so good

@Jackson: I'd see if his eyes aren't a bit too far from each other, dunno if my observation's correct but it's worth looking into that I think
Yeah, true, he's kind of sloth like. I'll change that

I have a couple of things. 1. I like to go back to the things that inspired me in the first place. Play the great games, watch the great films etc.
2. This is a weird one, but sometimes the most motivating thing is just doing your alternative job.
I'm trying to make a job out of developing games because it's what I've always done in my spare time, of my own choice. So going and working a 'normal' job, filling out forms or lifting heavy things etc. makes you remember how much you love game developing in comparison
It's also important to make sure you don't have pressing needs, because having them hanging over you will kill your effectiveness at anything. By needs i mean, social needs - maybe you haven't seen your friends in a while, or fitness/health needs or anything else non-work that will demotivate you until you deal with it. In my experience It's ALWAYS better to drop work and fix these things, THEN get back into developing when you're happy

I love this game concept so much, I even started making a very similar game about a year ago but had to drop it to focus on my current one.
Have you considered having alternates to the base car vehicle? eg. Mech/walker base, helicopter base, jet/flying base etc. etc.
PS: Regarding the deforming terrain, I think you should utilize vertex color and have a shader to blend between a grass texture and a burnt texture. More damage to that vert would keep darkening/lightening the vertex color to strengthen the blend

@ the parking specialist thing above: Driving in China is really weird. The license is easy enough that most Chinese are able to get it on their first try, and yet foreigners who try to take the test go because it's just so backwards. The drivers in China drive really dangerously as well, swerving past pedestrians and going onto major roads without even looking. In China, pedestrians don't have priority. The cars do. And then they come to Australia and have their meaningless license recognized as equal to an Australian vehicle license. Despite the fact that getting an Aus license as an Australian is both difficult (48% failure rate) and expensive.

kinda like pc skype
What's wrong with PC Skype? I feel like a shorter list would be "What's NOT wrong with PC Skype?" Anyway, thats that suck which are not PC Skype include putting off a shitty task till tomorrow... then realizing your brain won't let you sleep. Subconscious efforts to procrastinate would rather ruin sleep cycles than just do a thing

Today I tried out Strike Suit Zero. The physics feel really nice and fluid. Just flying and shooting etc. feels good. The graphics are also very tight. So far tho, the combat has been pretty slow and dry, hoping it gets a bit more difficult and interesting

It seems like GPU manufacturers should have come up with this a long time ago. Glad it's here now, I usually disable vsync where I can since often caps the framerate way lower than the computer is capable of outputting.

Just wondering why you're redrawing something when you get such gorgeous shots in your trailer... Why not just take your in-game characters and backgrounds and mount a scene from there to do a photoshoot?
Something like 0:29,0:43 or 1:03 give a lot of ambient and "rise" feeling!
(and if you still take mode requests, I would love a Instadeath/1 shot setting ^^)
Well, it just seems the standard thing to do on Steam, is to have a nice painted image that tried to represent all of your games features, rather than an in game screenshot. This is why I have a guy holding a sword and a fireball, to get across the 2 main combat features; 1. the melee system and 2. the magic which can be customized and used along side it. But I think maybe I should start by posing my existing models and painting over it afterwards. As for that gamemode idea, we've planned to make a "hardcore" setting, which any server can choose to have on (like in battlefield and CoD) this will make any one full sword hit (or fireball, or arrow, or watever) into a kill

The standalone Stanley Parable has been great fun. At first I felt a little ripped off, since it starts out exactly like the MOD, I was questioning if there was any new content, besides the improved graphics. But from there the game just kept surprising me and now I see it as being great value for money

back to working on the cover image. To be perfectly honest I don't really want to be the one doing this and so far I'm not happy with my results. Even though I don't think I'm technically qualified enough to make what I want made nobody I want to contract has responded to my emails. So yeah, I'll probably have to take a few runs at this before it looks like how I want
