I dunno, I didn't have any trouble figuring out what could and couldn't kill you.
I had a lot of fun with this one! Admittedly, using Judas was a bad move. But once I switched to Eve, I was fine 'til the end.
Out of curiousity, what's with the Scripture angle anyway? Or is it just something random? I thought maybe it was man vs. Eden to start... but selecting Satan didn't make much sense in that context.
Or maybe it does. I don't got much Bible in my head.

I dunno, does Half Life 2 have any cutscenes? I mean, they're all sorta technically in-game.
There's no way in hell anyone is gonna try and win an argument for "best game ever." People are waaay too diverse on this board to come together on something so personal.

Well, I'm sure most of the compo entries would be tongue-in-cheek. Personally, if this compo comes up I know exactly what I'm doing: An RPG about two gay bishy vampires that fall in love. YOU GIRLS WOULD BE ALL OVER THAT. Sick.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure 'violent' video games will last pretty much 'til the end of the human race. Will we end up covering everything? Sure, maybe some day. Will any single human being be able to experience all the many countless ways? Doubtful.
This is why remakes = $$$.

Yeah, I had a blast fighting that flying dragon in the desert.
THAT WAS CRAZY AWESOME. Actually, come to think of it... SotC IS a lot of fun, damnit. Yeah yeah, you wander around a landscape with no enemies whatever. When you DO find an enemy, it is nothing less than epic.
Plus there are a lot of interesting hidden items and power-ups for those of us willing to play carefully.

Geeze, I can think of a lot of games that I really love that aren't 'fun' in any sense of the word.
Photopia comes to mind.... Passage was pretty boring, but Gravitation was certainly interesting. I dunno.
I'm a gameplay whore, like a lot of you, but I like to approach a game on it's own terms. If it wants to be fun or deep, than that's how I'll play it. If it fails to do what IT wants to do, then I throw it away. This happens often... like with Spore.
As for 'art games' what with the pixels and boring-ness and all that... I dunno, some of them make an impact on me, others don't. I suppose again it all comes down to execution. Every art game wants to 'say' something. Not all of them actually do it very well.

WAIT? Are you serious? Girl gamers get kicked off servers due to their gender!? I mean... this is twice now mentioned in this thread. I accept it as fact. If that's the case... what the hell? Why are we driving girls away!? That's insane

I can think of at least one game where there IS no real conflict. Photopia doesn't really have 'man vs. environs' or 'man vs. man' or anything that well-defined or familiar. It's just a really messed up story.

Yeah, good point. My ex really wasn't into video games much. But then I introduced her to Tetris Attack. And then she got into Nethack... and then she got into...
Ahh, I love the snowball effect of playing video games. It's always fun to watch.

As I said earlier, I didn't realize you were kidding. And I think "get a life" and "get a brain" are two very different events. Sometimes they are mutually exclusive. Nothing wrong with generalizing, since it's what statistics would have us do. But as I said earlier, applying statistics to any single person will always end in disaster.

I suppose the game I'm making right now has this. It's not a platformer, but the game does take control away from the player and forces you to perform certain actions.
Admittedly, this only happens if you paint yourself into a moral corner. It basically stops you from being nice if you've been mean one too many times. No redemption.
