Bah, 20 - 30 seconds for a game?  Who's gonna notice the time go that fast?  It's barely a diversion.  It's not like you're gonna be sitting there playing it all day.

I think anyone that wants to be here can spare that kinda time.  Also, it might be an idea to set all accounts to inactive and have them reactivated by the captcha.  And then after a few months, we delete all the old inactive accounts.

Make a nice clean sweep of things.

If we had to follow certain reqs (like maybe Javascripts with assets under 5k or something), we could keep the bandwidth pretty limited.

And I think we could still do something pretty awesome.  Heck, even have the top 5 voted games show up as random capchas for newbies.  Who's gonna write a spam macro to solve all of 'em?  That's ridiculous.

Don't forget, Konami is making a 3DS update to the virtual girlfriends of Love Plus!

It's like the creepiest/saddest/intriguing/desirable fact I've ever written down.

I've only been barely paying attention to this thread.  Yeah yeah we gotta block users, whatev...

WAIT?  A CAPTCHA THAT IS ALSO A GAME??  Now we have to do it.   Well, hello there!

Heck, I better remember that channel for November  Smiley

Mesh got me into it last year and I'll definitely be doing it again this year.  I'll be finishing the second half of the story I wrote last year.

Heck, I even spent a few months reworking the first half just so I could write the second half.  Should be interesting; got a few more friends to join in this time 'round!  Beer!

Usually refers to a game that doesn't require you to know much about a game to play it. It is usually very chill and not very difficult to beat.

Oh no!  Kirby!  Run before this mob lynches you!  Cheesy

Man, I can think of plenty of easy games that turn me on.  I think one o' the previous posters has a point.  There's plenty of pulp fiction and short stories out there behind the literary classics of our time.

We just need more quality control.  Not from the authours cuz that'll never happen.  How about jayisgames and its ilk agree to stop reviewing such stuff?  Tongue

Uh...outta curiousity... WHAT is a casual game?

A game that's less than 5 hours long?  Okay alright.  Umm...yeah Portal, get the fuck outta here!  Nobody likes your style!

Or do you mean indie games?  Indie games less than an hour long?  Shit, Tim's gonna have to shut down his blog.  Cry
349  Player / General / Re: Posting Under Your Real Name- Why or Why Not? on: October 04, 2010, 03:10:02 PM
My real name isn't even my real name anymore.  Well, my last name has changed anyway.

But the government paperwork hasn't gone through yet (although strangely, apparently it's not necessary.)

Yeah you know what?  I think it might extend everywhere.  Glad to know uh...

I'd like to think this is just a problem with the younger nerds.  It's especially concerning when these people think I'm a girl in online games... even with male characters.

But hopefully some can grow out of it.  I know one of my friends, she has problems being the guild leader/mt for her WoW raids.  But 99% of the time, the surprised men get over the fact of her gender.  So that's nice.

Personally, I'm not sure how it starts.  I've played games with plenty of girls before; a few of them can really kick my ass sometimes.  I'm not sure why "a girl playing games omg" is such a typical response.

I guess it doesn't help that in a place like TIGS, the males outnumber the females probably a good 7 to 1 or something.  And every time a thread like this comes up, it gets derailed until a few more leave.

My prediction will come true.  Facepalm

Enjoy your day of the year man!  I hope you don't tire of it after a few hundred more!

Yeah, western Canada is definitely a whole other story.  It's funny, because we have a lot of game companies around just in Vancouver.  Makes you wonder why more of them don't move to sit in with Montreal Studios.

Yeah, never thought of that Xion.  I better make sure not to insult people with an (admittedly innocent) quip.

Also, your ascii avatar is awesome.  Were you hi...wait a minute...
356  Player / General / Re: Drugs on: September 25, 2010, 01:27:56 PM
Every ill in the world is because you touch yourself at night.

On a related note, I personally don't do drugs, but I think we should just legalize 'em.  Yeah, legalize *all* of them.  Just to see what happens.

No drama from me, just dropping a "Congrats" on Notch.  Awesome stuff man, keep it up!  Beer!
358  Feedback / Playtesting / Re: Minecraft (alpha) on: September 21, 2010, 02:53:15 PM
I love building stuff in this game, although the Alpha version definitely slows down the creative impulses.  It's definitely a very different feel from the Classic.

But I'm still very curious to see where it goes!  Well, hello there!

I'm also more likely to buy download games on the cheap than I am to track down a physical copy.  I reserve the purchase of physical copies only for the truly great titles I want *sitting on my shelf*.  Otherwise, whatever.

I'm not about to complain/debate morals when I'm only putting down $10.  I just wanna play it.  Wink
360  Developer / Technical / Re: Resource Management in C++ on: September 20, 2010, 09:02:48 PM
Man, I don't have much of an answer.  My code tends to get a bit messy.

Still, I like to use the same superclass for all of my enemies and maybe another superclass for all of their missiles (or whatever.)

Also, as for how the sprite animations are handled, I suppose there isn't anything stopping you from doing it externally.

You know what?  Some guy is gonna come in here and go on about Lua.  I suggest listening to that guy.
