go through some tutorials and create some very simple games first. you can't just start with a 3D strategy game, those are enormously difficult to code, they'd take at least 50,000 lines of good code, when you probably can't even yet write 1,000 lines of good code. start with something like a tetris clone or a shmup

Thanks for the advice, one more question then, what programing language with or without libraries I should learn/use?

Oh, sorry, ok... So the better question than would be, how should I start, I have basic Python knowledge, a little of pyGame, a bit of java, a bit of "visual basic". So how should I start, would you recommend something for me to do?

Hi,

I'm just learning to develop games, and I thought that my learning project could be a strategy. Could you please tell what engine is the best for a strategy game (preferably 3D) or would it be best to use DirectX and write the game completely myself?

Thanks in advance,
MadMonkey

Wow, someone else who uses the BGE. There's not that many users of the BGE around here, so it's good to see that it's getting some use.  Grin Hand Thumbs Up Right

Not bad to see - you've got some dual-wielding action there, I see, between a gun and a... hairdryer. LOL < I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding. Keep making stuff. I wish I had some BGE tutorials up, but I don't - only other tutorials. :p I could make some, though.

That's not hard to do just parent both guns to the camera xD

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and to game development (and pretty young too), I'm working on a FPS in BGE (Blender Game Engine) first my "real" project. Dont know much about moddeling or about logic brisc so now you can just move with WASD and mouse. Tried to do some weapon models (still don't understand how to make animations in-game). So here's screenshot, I'd love to hear critics and/or tutorials how to make stuff.

Now done:
1. Walking.
2. Turning around with mouse.
3. Running with [Shift].

To Do:
1. Fix a bug that when gun and character(model) colides, the playes goeas of map in solar speed.
2. Shooting.
3. AI.
4. More maps.
5. Gun swiching and ammo.
6. Menu and HUD.
