Taking courses you have zero interest in.
Picking an elective that is suppose to be easy, then almost failing it.
Liking a girl for years, knowing all along she doesn't like me back
edit: Writing a test, feel real good about it, get test back and end up with 60%
Going to the bus stop to see that there is enough people to fill three busses, so you have to wait a while.
Going outside thinking it would still be warm out, then realizing its almost November and that its cold.

Need some advice-
Currently in second year university. First year I took engineering, I could do it, but did not enjoy it.
During that year, I had to take a simple C++ class, which I really enjoyed- so I decided to transfer majors from engineering to computer science.
Now that I am here, I am taking two math classes, a crim class (lol elective) and one computer science course (I need a first year math class to take any other cmpt classes).
That being said, I absolutely hate my cmpt class, I find it very dull, and frankly I do not care about the material one bit (material such as SMD modelling systems, Processor Datapathes). I enjoy programming (both games and not games... obviously more games though) but I have zero interest in all other comp-sci related fields.
I'm starting to think maybe Comp-sci isn't for me (But then again, I really don't know what would be 'for me') since I only enjoy one aspect of it. Anyone else been in this position and have any advice or opinions? =x
edit: I'm thinking about maybe transfering into a program we have called software systems, seems to be more applied, and instead of focusing in one area of comp-sci, It is more general (Bit of networking/database/programming/theory) , with a bunch of electives allowing me to take additional programming classes... Again, any advice/opinions? I think i'd end up with a Bachelors in Science, instead of Bachelors in computer science... does that matter at all?

Question for you guys,
Currently I am doing a bachelors of Computer Science, and toying around with making games in XNA/C#.
If I am aiming towards becoming a games programmer as a career, do you guys think i'd be better off continuing with XNA and learning better ways to put games together, or start with C++ and try to make a game in that ? (I'm taking a few C++ classes, but not focused on games)

Alright, took a bit longer then expected, but we have added enough content in there to create a very short video to show you guys what we have going on. The address is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcJXf8WJAxMIt has the basics down, fish re spawning and drawing different sizes according to their weight. I am in the process of adding in a list of different fish types, I will throw that in the random pool as well, to create more variety down below. Hopefully we will have some basic animations down and make the game a bit more playable in general, once we accomplish this I will publish a beta build to see if you guys can give some more accurate feedback =) If there is anything you notice in the video that you think could improve give me a should and I'll look at it. -Scyfer

Should be a pretty interesting concept to try and create. I've only dipped my feet into programming for the past six months or so, but it should be a fun challenge, hopefully will learn a ton from it as well.
Not too sure how to approach this, but hopefully I can give an update on our progress in the next day or so.
