I've been playing it, definitely a solid upgrade on top of the original Flash demo, with lots of new mechanics!  Kudos. ^_^

There have been places where I got stuck, walked off, came back later and figured it out, so this puzzler fits for me: not so hard that I feel I need to consult walkthroughs, but not so easy I just blaze right through it.  Of course I'm not done yet...

great to hear, thanks for playing!  Grin

I only come to these forums to look at the visual art references threads and to read drama, particularly about the IGF. This thread highly disappoints and pales in comparison to the entertainment of reading the IGF drama.  Gomez Gomez Gomez Gomez Gomez

Grats dude! Lookin good  Hand Thumbs Up Left Smiley

(Is it me or do you need a photographic memory to read the credits at the beginning)

hahaha, we rush through credits and stuff, cus we wanna get the viewer to the meat of the trailer right away. no one likes to wait 10 seconds for shit to fade in and out slowly in the beginning.

ya, it didn't even get an honorable mention, even though it has like a team of animators and better animation than most AAA games

Wait, I thought one dude made the entire game. How many animators were there?

link's awakening's intro i found to be a bit slow: walking along the beach flipping over spiked monsters with the shield doesn't do much for me

Grinding 900 rupees for a bow and arrow? Fook that, they call me thief every time i play that game

I think apart from a few isolated bitter comments, the problem was not the fact that there is a successful elite, or that members of such Elite are supporting each other. It's really fine. The problem came from a perceived opinion of some members of said "Elite": that those who fail are not dedicated enough.

You say you are where you are because of work and sacrifice, and I of course believe you. Others are not in the same place, despite similar levels of work and sacrifice. That's OK. That's life. Maybe they had less talent, or were more unlucky. Regardless, comments such as "you'd be successful if you committed yourself to come to the GDC" are unhelpful because some people genuinely can't.

Going to GDC was offered as friendly and helpful advice to people looking to network. That came from people accusing judges of only letting popular developers' games become finalists, completely disregarding any talent said developers might actually have.

Please don't belittle the idea of riding across africa on a unicycle. That is one of my dreams. Thank you.

Shocked I too am shocked and highly disappointed Dust didn't get into the art category. I haven't played the actual game so none of the high exposure glowing filters might not be on it to make it look even cooler like in the trailer, but the character animation and environments and special effects look total b0$$

@ Gomez , I know it's never going to change and some people have their "personal" reasons, but stop trying to prevent people from being proud of their achievements. The last thing people should be doing to developers is make them feel completely awful for trying to make their game a bigger success unless they are making a Farmville clone or printing signs on park benches like Angry Birds

It's almost like the path to success is simply to try as hard as you can, as long as you can, to make the best you can...

Look, you guys are totally right. I'll admit that. Much like how Michael Phelps won all of his medals at the Olympics because his friends told everyone to slow down and let him win.

michael phelps smoked a bong once thats why hes successful

How much is the GDC going to benefit someone who doesn't speak English? Someone who's massively shy and has trouble talking to people? (I don't actually know the answers to these questions as I haven't been there.)

Nothing is equally easy for everyone, nothing is equally beneficial for everyone, we all make our own decisions about what's worth it. And sometimes we're idiots and we make the wrong ones.

Yeah that goes back to the basics of any industry or business. There are some super intelligent people I know that get beat out for jobs because they lack the social skills.

You could always organize meetups and bar-hopping with indie devs in your area and hometown. Greg Wohlwend organized a small group of people who he's never met before as soon as he moved, and I only found out about their get-togethers through a college grad friend of mine. A friend and I also hosted a Newgrounds meetup a couple years ago and got a lot of awesome Flash developers to come out as well, which was awesome!
