That's it! Thank you so much, I never expect to get a reply, let alone this quickly! It's funny, though, how in my memory the graphics were a lot better than they actually are. Thanks again!

Hello, I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me out with this.

It was a PC game I played somewhere between 1999-2004 (ish), sadly I don't remember much:
- you were a humanoid who could jump, climb, shoot, etc. and had a jetpack (maybe some sort of invisibility cloak as well, not sure)
- set on a planet that was not earth
- coastal setting, lots of sand, clear water (both sea and small puddles, or 'lakes'), (palm)trees
- very bumpy area, lots of hills and mountains that were accessible for the most part
- area was very big, lots of walking around to do
- the colors were very bright and alive, very bright sun shining
- there were some sort of alien bases which you had to destroy, all I remember is that they were black, with hive-like entrances/tunnels (I think)
- creatures were also black, as soon as they saw you they'd run toward you so you had to take out their bases from a distance (you could snipe, i think)

If anyone should happen to know; thank you.
