Hah I know how to work the first program I've used, thanks. You just can't save the colors, or save them as swatches or anything.
I think I actually got sad when I saw the Windows 7 version.

I'm pretty sure it was the first computer program I ever used, and I've never stopped. It's kind of like notepaper for sketching ideas. Also nice for pixeling when I don't have Photoshop, save for the absolutely terrible palette.

Look, an update. I made my second ever walk cycle. I think I'm going to move on to other illustrations, that is, unless there's any small or large issues with the current animation. Oh whoops, I marked the character designs wrong, editing now...

I think I get what you mean but that has little to with Braid itself. I would compare it more to knowing how a magic trick is done and then watching it be performed in this complicated and expensive way--admiring the pizazz, but caught up in watching the actual execution.
Which reminds me, The Illusionist was a huge disappointment, especially compared to The Prestige.

Really quick mockup of the Towns Square and the HUD to give a rough idea, and to keep my promise. And here's the early stage of some of the main characters. [EDIT] Revised characters on the left with a better pallet and size, old on the right. Got a nice amount of "code" done, which is exciting, so I figured I should finalize the characters as soon as possible. Thanks for the kind words already, I'll try to keep updating this as soon as things become more presentable.

Hey everybody. This is a game I've been working with on and off since late one night in the summer. It's finally winter break for me, and I plan on going full time on this thing. This is my first solo project, and it's on a pretty serious deadline. It's my Senior year of college as an Art major, and I have all intentions of displaying this work in the gallery alongside my traditional sculptures, drawings, and oil paintings. The fun part will be convincing my very traditional school to let me do this. Since I am only an artist, I'm relying heavily on Adventure Game Studio (and anyone who knows the program, feel free to give tips!). The gameplay is fairly simply, as it intended to be played with my old NES controller (more details on the build set up later), but with a good amount of action. It's essentially an short interactive play, based on the medieval triptychs, in three acts. It should be far from boring. Currently the plan is as follows: - Character Design (100%)
- Character Animation (90%)
- Script (90%)
- Music? (20%)
- Sound? (60%)
- Font (100%)
- Set Illustrations
-First (100%) -Second (100%) -Third (80%) - Programming (95%)
- Physical Setup
-Box/Manual (25%) -Console (70%) -TV Connection ( %) -Speakers? (?%) As you may have guessed, this has fallen fairly deep in "artgam" territory. This happened because I think a lot can be done with the medium, and my schooling so far of classic literature, art, history and philosophy is strongly reflected in this idea. And of course, it is intended as an installation in a gallery. However I still think when it is complete, the message and the gameplay should suit a wide audience. I plan to have a mockup of the main stage by the end of the night. Otherwise, this devlog is mostly for my own responsibility. But I would love nothing more than some advice, comments, suggestions, and heavy critique on any of my work. Thanks guys.[/list]

wow. lots of goin on This isn't a surprise, in fact this is one of the first things I knew about the game. Starting as a free creative thing, evolved into this expansive and fun game that is definately worth paying full price for. He sold the alpha for cheap, promising those who buy would pay no more, forever! as thanks for sifting through and helping with alpha nonsense. Beta, to me, was defined from the start as the core and functioning gameplay mode. Which by all accounts I think it will be by the 20th, given his current record. It will have bugs, and those who don't want to risk paying for what they think will be bug fixes should buy the game right now. Though honestly, I would buy the game twice, not because I'm blind, but because it is worth at least as much as a solid Nintendo title in my opinion. If Notch suddenly up and dons his asshat, buy making beta players pay for monkeys, I will be a bit upset and not advise people to pay for monkeys. Do I think he's going to do that? Well I don't know the dude, but from what I've read and seen I highly doubt it. There may be a time to be upset, but now is certainly not it.

Some basics: reflected light is never as bright as light/hi-light. For example, there shouldn't be a white dot on the underside of the shoulders and that patch should be darker. Also, shading with black makes especially metalic orange look really dull. Or if you're going for a comic style white and black shading, stick with that and nix the greys.
Looks snazzy, though.
